I'm checking out today, with a great location, plenty of parking, and easy to navigate around the hotel. Feels like a smaller version of GSR. Wish their buffet wasn't closed. The reviews and food looked amazing.
Beds: really comfortable
Pillows: really comfortable and good firmness
Sheets: Not enough. Just 2 thin bed sheets and 1 thin fleece sheet. I would've slept better with thicker sheets (for the comfort)
Bathroom: clean, bright, great lighting for makeup, lots of towels, etc
Kitchenette: good sizes fridge, microwave worked well. Does not come with any kitchen supplies.
Tv: nice big screen, just the right cable channels to watch basic TV shows, kids' shows, etc.
Room temperature: The thermostat/heating system worked great, so I didn't feel cold. When I felt hot, turning it down cooled the room quickly, too.
Sound proofing: not very good, especially if you have loud neighboring rooms. On my 3rd night, there was a party room above me they were partying from 8pm-4 or 5am. Blasting music and talking loudly. I attached a video of the sound video. I didn't bother to complain, I figure they're having fun, don't wanna ruin it. Plus, I don't sleep until 3am any way. I also heard through the walls someone throwing up on the 4th night.
Housekeeping: I didn't use them, I left a bag of garbage on the 3rd morning, and they picked it up. But they were very friendly when they knocked.
Food options: I didn't try this time, and I will try next time if I stay again.
Front desk check in: I won't write her name but it started with an M, she checked me in, this is where the service gets docked off points. I personally don't care if someone is not showing emotion or giving a prudish behavior, but if you work in the hospitality industry, especially a resort type like J Resort, hospitality should be trained in all floor members, ESPECIALLY the front desk. Although I don't personally care, I have dealt with rude people my entire life (I work in the Restaurant/bar industry for almost 20 years) M gave off a snobbish attitude and I know it probably doesn't feel welcoming to people who check in. I don't even think she smiled once. Didn't seem like she enjoyed working here. I don't like writing about things like this, but J Resort has done a beautiful job with the resort, and I know these things should be addressed because it's also the reputation of the resort too. Maybe the manager in me is coming out, and I wouldn't like an employee behaving that way. Or the fact I am passionate about this industry and I hate seeing people act that way with guests, but I'm just being real with the experience.
Besides that I would stay again, it was comfortable. but I do prefer GSR because there's more...

This time, we tried a couple of new dishes -- the Hamachi appetizer and the Chilean Sea Bass -- and both were absolutely delicious. Chef Darcy and his team continue to impress with their culinary talent!
Outstanding service as always from Ohannes (our server) and Jerry (busser) -- friendly, attentive, and professional. Manager Pierre is always present and available for any questions or assistance, which really adds a personal touch to the experience.
If you haven't stopped by yet, you're missing out. Give them a try -- you won't be disappointed!
7/2025 Another great visit … today they had a jazz band playing by the Afterglow lounge. This was a treat ! Sax, keyboard and drums !
As always excellent service from Marzena ! She’s quick and friendly ! We’re happy to see her on our visits !
Good selection of games, machines - slots, keno, poker plus tables.
Also stopped by J Paul’s Restuarant ! Delicious food by Chef Darcy - check out my review for Restuarant !
4/2025 Servers 5 stars Cocktail servers Sweet and Marzena are great ! I give them extreme credit as they walk the entire casino floor - many times solo ! Even tho we don’t visit often they still remember our order ! We appreciate it!
I truly believe not many servers would want this task. They are quick and efficient !
If you are on the top section near registration the bartender will come and assist when available.
Don’t forget the also have that great 25% locals discount to use at Hanna’s Table and J Paul’s Steakhouse - check out my reviews for those. We haven’t tried the buffet yet.
3/2025 hotel 4 stars Stayed here last couple of weeks taking advantage of their promotional mailer offers and pretty nice rooms considering.
Recommend Vista tower which have been newly renovated however if you want a view of "The Row" then I recommend Aspen tower.
Vista - Balcony room nice with a wet bar, microwave and midsize refrigerator. Aspen - Skyline suite had a cool bath with huge tub and walk in shower; wet bar and mini refrigerator and a half bath with pullout sofa bed.
We did experience minor issues with elevators at both towers, entry doors and Aspen tower had some electrical / outlet concerns.
Be sure to bring your own charging cords for cell phones just to be safe.
Pricing is pretty good however I have not stayed at any other hotels in downtown for quite sometime. Unsure comp pricing and if other hotels have newly renovated rooms.
I do recommend Vista tower balcony rooms and Aspen...
Read moreWent there for the buffet on thanksgiving and left in an ambulance due to negligence from the hotel. Where do I start they had overcrowded people in a tiny hallway to wait over an hour for the buffet. They failed to design a waiting area for the buffet causing the overcrowding upstairs and should have been closed down by a fire marshal. The security lacked basic security skills to back patrons away and secure the scene essentially making them gawk tuahs because all they did was stand and gawk too. First responders asked for a private room to work on me and were ignored. Seemed like staff was in a rush to get me and first responders out of the building but yet failed to get people out of the way. The first responders once down at the ambulance were complaining about no space to work upstairs and how the J resort staff repeatedly ignored their request. I was torn about writing this review but decided to because my medical emergency on thanksgiving could have been prevented with basic customer service skill being shown by J resort but they obviously as decision makers there aren’t smart enough to have a server go through the line taking drink orders or offering bottles of water because even elementary kids in basic science all those bodies are going to give off heat and warm that confined hallway up. Do better and maybe go to Atlantis and learn how to handle long buffet lines because that was your one and only chance at a first impression. What a great first impression you left on me. Won’t ever return here again after their epic failure at showing any resemblance of customer service.
Edit 12/25/24 Went tonight to try and give them a second chance but to my displeasure in the last month nothing has changed and they still have the hallway to the bathroom overcrowded waiting more than an hour and a half to not make it to the front of the line. Maybe I should have stayed and if I collapsed again this time seek legal advice. J resort is not mentally disabled person friendly. Sorry J resort you aren’t getting a third strike because we aren’t playing baseball, I’m protecting myself from another panic attack that leads to an ambulance trip to the ER because the place is over crowded in a small hallway. Do better and be better because on holidays I may just start calling the fire Marshall to inspect your hallway of people while waiting for the buffet. Just say no...
