Atmosphere: Heritage had a very cool vibe. Concrete floors, mostly open ceiling, drapes, artwork, etc, and background music that allowed for conversation.
Seating: Overall, the seating looks to be well thought out with counter height tables with chairs and stools along with standard tables and chairs. - there are tables for 2, 4, and then tables put together for larger parties. Originally, we were seated at a counter-height table. I asked if we could be seated at a standard height table and was quickly accommodated.
Service: The hostess greeted us with a smile. Then after seating, handed us a food menu, wine menu, and beer menu. Within moments Pete, our server, came to the table. He knew we had made a reservation, that I had noted that we were going to order Heritage's "42 oz. Tomahawk Ribeye Special for Two" for dinner in the reservation, and used that to his advantage by telling us that they had saved the last one for us because they ran out of it the night before! We felt special from the beginning.
Salad: Grilled Caesar. There was ¼ of a romaine head that had been grilled beautifully then drizzled with Caesar dressing. Three heirloom tomatoes were sliced in half and each plate received a half (purple, red, and yellow), plus grated parmesan on the side. It was the perfect size and delicious.
Ribeye: When it arrived, the perfectly cooked to medium rare, 42oz of charbroiled mammal meat was center stage on a rectangular board surrounded by its "accessories". The chef had sliced the meat on the bias and we couldn't wait to dive in! The ribeye was the rock star of the entire meal. It was one of the best cuts of meat we've ever eaten (and we've eaten in some of the best steakhouses in the Nation.) The rare areas of the steak were buttery like a filet mignon and the medium colored meat was flavorful.
Lobster: As you would expect, the tail came to the table in the shell. I asked Pete if he would be kind enough to remove it from the shell for me. I am sure he took it back to the kitchen, but it doesn't matter, when he returned - the lobster was out of the shell and ready to eat. We did not receive any lemon or melted butter with the lobster which I thought would be okay to begin with, this lobster was seasoned with more than the traditional salt and paprika. Whatever the seasoning the chef used on the lobster made it one of the most phenomenal tasting pieces of lobster I've ever eaten.
Vegetables: My husband does not normally enjoy asparagus. This was the first side that he dove into and he was really excited about how tasty it was. The chef had grilled the asparagus and topped it simply with kosher salt. We also had roasted Yukon Gold potatoes on the platter. They were good, but not the best either of us have ever had. We did have one question: When serving a dinner for 2, why serve 7 spears of asparagus and 3 potatoes? Some customers are OCD.
Dessert: A slice of raspberry cheesecake, a personal favorite of mine, it was presented nicely with puree of raspberry lines accompanied by a pureed mixture of a spice/liquor that we couldn't discern. The cheesecake had a velvety consistency and you could taste the cream cheese. We ordered a coffee to enjoy with the cheesecake and found that if we had a drink of coffee after having a bite of cheesecake that the aftertaste was that of toast with jam being dunked in coffee!
Heritage has two new LOCAL customers that didn't know where they were, what they served, or even that they existed until they posted a photo of enchanting looking food on social media. If they are trying to redefine casual dining, we love the direction they're going. We WILL be back soon to try the standard menu and can't wait to spread the word about the delicious food that is happening downtown inside the Whitney Peak Hotel.
If you took the time to read my novel, you too should check out Heritage. As in...
Read moreSmoked Fish ($11) includes smoked salmon, mackerel, capers, red onion, low-fat cream cheese, hard-boiled egg, and pumpernickel bread. The smoke mackerel has just the right amount of smoky flavor. The fatty fish almost tastes like “pork belly of the sea”. The smoked salmon is succulent and not overly salty. Capers add a nice vinegar acidity. Combining it all together on the pumpernickel bread is the perfect match to its hearty nutty flavor. Rating: 5/5
White Trash Croque Madame ($9) is a grilled cheese toad-in-a-hole with chorizo gravy and potatoes. This is a fantastic combination of flavors and textures from the rich yolk, creamy, spicy chorizo gravy, gooey cheese, and crunchy grilled sourdough. Nothing in this dish is wasted, even the cutout bread for the hole is made into a tiny grilled cheese and used as a topper. The breakfast potatoes wedges are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Use the chorizo gravy for dipping them. No ketchup necessary. Rating: 5/5
Blueberry Muffin ($3) is visually appealing with perfectly rounded top and spots of caramelized blueberries. The interior is fluffy. It just needs a side of butter. Rating: 5/5
Fresh Berries ($3) are surprising to see in snowy Reno. They add a refreshingly sweet and tangy flavor to breakfast. Rating 4.5/5
Hub Coffee ($3) drip is a great breakfast blend to start the morning. It has a smooth flavor with a roasted, nutty...

I booked the Roundabout Grill for a bachelorette party and had the absolute best experience all around. Booking the event was seamless and the event planner Erin was super responsive, on top of all the details and was very flexible with our needs. We had a last minute change in head count that per the contract they didn't have to accommodate but they did with no problem which was above and beyond. The three course group menu had lots of great choices and is a bargain at just under $50 per person with food, tax, gratuity and a small fee for our big party. Lots of wine by the bottle choices as well that are priced appropriately.
Food was great, I wish we had taken more pictures! The kale salad and tuna poke cups were the stars of the show! We had steak, salmon and chicken and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Desert was a really nice berry crime brûlée which was a perfect ending to the meal.
Service was really outstanding, drinks were always being filled, the course were nicely timed and the dinner was so seamless. This is a really great choice for large...
