Decided on an end of summer lunch with the guys at LA Burger. Never been there before. Anyway, we all met up at around 12pm and had some time to kill before everybody showed up. First thing we noticed was that the bar was temporarily closed...but it was noon so no big deal. Had some time to peruse the menu and it was decently varied. Burgers, dogs, tacos, sandwiches, and a pretty decent kids menu. Not overly complicated. Anyway, when we showed up there were about 4 other people there...my group of 8 had no trouble finding a place to sit together. When we left 45 minutes later, the place was packed! Good to see. We ordered and the food came out no more than 10 minutes later. My burger was great! It was piping hot, and it was put together exactly as I ordered it. I ordered off the menu, but I added a couple of items to my burger and held the onions. My tater tots were hot and crispy - among some of the best I have ordered. According to everybody, the food was great. I also noticed that they have gluten free buns, so now I can recommend it to my Celiac daughter. The staff was small but warm and friendly. The ambience was totally conducive to large, medium, and small parties. I very rarely drink soda, but I bought a cup for the soft drink bar - Stubborn Soda (I think). I fell in love with the Pineapple Cream soda! I even had two pints. My only two knocks on the joint, and they are minor, was that I asked for a side of mustard for my tater tots (I am originally a New Englander) and the server brought me 5 packets of mustard - would have preferred a bottle. Also, I am super sensitive to caffeine, so I asked the staff if they knew the caffeine situation at the soda bar, and they had no idea. I am not even sure that they understood my inquiry, but finally one of the guys just owned the fact the they had no idea. I had to spend 5 minutes on Google trying to figure it out. LA Burger is not too close to where I live to make it a regular stop, but I certainly would not turn down another invitation to go there. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the menu. Go...
Read moreOrdered the K Style Shoe String Fries, Curly fries, Tater tots (picture not taken), the Cheese Steak, and my husband got a burger (idk the name but it had an egg on it. I think it was like Cali something). He also got some kind of milkshake too (not pictured). We ordered delivery to the hotel we were staying at so we cannot comment on the service or the atmosphere.
The curly fries were equivalent to the seasoning of what you might find at Arby's or Jack in the Box (which I don't mind at all, because I love that kind of curly fries. My husband said the egg on his burger was perfect, it was nice and runny. The milkshake was delicious, and better than expected. The cheese steak was good, the mushrooms were nicely cooked and I love the shoe string fries.
I'm not the biggest fan of kimchi so I'll probably be skipping the k style next time. My husband said one of the bites he had of the k style fries' meat was chewy which turned him off from eating those fries. The paper bags weren't great, but I appreciate the skip of Styrofoam on them cus I really dislike Styrofoam containers. Tater tots weren't crispy and ranked on the low side of everything we got.
Looking at the menu, it was mildly frustrating to figure out what was on the tx style of k style fries. I had to Google that separately and hoped the information I found was accurate. He said that he saw a Nutella milkshake on the menu, but then when we tried to order it through doordash, it wasn't listed so he had to pick something else. This is likely strongly related to us ordering online for delivery.
Overall, we'd both like to try this place again if we find ourselves near one of...
Read moreI have a co-worker who loves this place (on a weekly level) and I've quickly become an expert on LA Burger, so here's what I think you should know before going.
If you're thinking, "Oh, LA Burger, they must only sell burgers." you'd be wrong. They have a chili dog (apparently award winning), a rice bowl, and even vegetarian options like the black bean sandwich (that I highly recommend).
If you're one of those budget-conscience types, take advantage of those daily deals (on the chalkboard by the counter). You'll easily save about $2 for a entree/side/drink combo.
Free arcade! Yeah, I don't think I even realized this till my 4-5th visit, but there is a arcade machine tucked away in a corner next to the bar that has Galaga and Pac-Mac that you can play for free.
Speaking of bar, they have one. With a decent sized TV playing sports.
There is no ordinary sodas there. Forget Coca-Cola or Pepsi, this place offers Oak-Cliff Sodas (local) only in their drink dispenser, and some bottled options. The iced tea has regular options though (sweet, unsweet).
And according to my expert co-worker, their chili is top notch. Also, for those tater tot fans out there like us they got you covered.
Finally, the staff are always cool there so I think when you add that up with the tasty food, great deals, and comfortable atmosphere it goes to show why this LA Burger is popular during lunch (FYI, if you can try to go before noon to avoid...
