I had a unique experience at Zalat Pizza where a friend and I dined in for lunch. It wasn't very crowded around noon on a Saturday which I thought odd. Before we could order, a couple of young men came in and took a seat at the bar followed by a mother and her teenaged son. So let it be known that I bring a crowd. We wanted to try something new so we decided to split a 14" Teriyaki Chicken pizza. For starters, we each had a side salad. I had mine with Italian which was sweet and tangy. The salad was generous and cost $2.99 and comes with fancy greens and cherry tomatoes. The most perplexing thing about Zalat's is that the menus have no prices on them. I quickly learned that to discover the cost of any item you must first go to Zalat's website and actually place an order there then the price for the item selected is revealed. Seems a rather convoluted way to show menu prices. My first thought was if you have to ask about prices, maybe you should call Dominos. The 14" Teriyaki Chicken pizza set me back $17.99 which is dear but oh man, is it ever worth it. So first I must comment on the dough which tastes fresh and yeasty, and it's not too hard either. Our waiter brought us some house ranch to use for dipping sauce. It was delightfully different and quite tasty. I usually skip eating the crust but to do so here would be a cardinal sin seeing as how I'm paying out the nose for it. Plus, did I mention the house ranch is very tasty? My only real complaint was that it took a real long time for my pizza to arrive. Perhaps this was due to Zalat's being short-staffed, I cannot say. Before I left, I had to hit the men's as is my habit whenever I am at an establishment I'm reviewing. That's when I saw their humorous restroom signage( see pic). The sign on the door was exactly alike on both restrooms so I picked the furtherest one and I must've picked the men's because the toilet was filthy. Not what you want to see in a restaurant that charges nearly $20 for a small pizza. Also, I ran the hot water for several minutes and it never did get hot. Finally I just washed my hands in tepid water. Enjoy Zalat's Pizza the next time you find yourself in downtown Plano. Just don't get confused by the...
Read moreI used to LOVE this place, but here lately they have not been on their A game. I went there a couple of weeks back with some friends from work and not only did the service suck, but the quality of the food was terrible! The waiter was a total joke! He is a younger kid that has zero manners and ethics! One of my friends paid for her pizza with cash and he had the audacity to ask her if he can keep the change. When she kindly informed him, that she will leave him a tip, he told her okay well I will go ahead hang on to the change and walked away. It was $4.86 to be exact that he KEPT! She didn't say she was going to give him the entire change as a tip. When we were about to leave, he asked us if we wanted to take the pizza home, we kindly said no thank you. He immediately responded with "Oh great I know what I am having for lunch" and he took it with him behind the bar and stashed it I guess on a shelf back there. WOW! I thought to myself great customer service buddy. Now I was craving some pizza so bad today, so my husband kindly offered to get me something to go. Since they offer pizza by the slice, I decided to get me a couple. BIG MISTAKE that was! Not only was the pizza hard as a rock, it was burnt on the bottom, the pepperoni slices were covered in grease, and the cheese was so saturated in grease it was beyond edible! What a waste of $7! I could've had better quality from McDonald's! I have pictures to post, but it is not allowing me to add them, so you all can witness exactly what I am talking about. Sadly that was the last straw for me! I will no longer be a customer of this location and since I live in the boondocks, there is not on by me. Goodbye ZaLat's if you decide to get better ingredients and a better staff, I will...
Read moreGreat tasting pizza and service. Crew was helpful and attentive considering the conditions they seem to be working in. Stopped in to get food and it felt hotter inside than outside. In the Texas heat! Asked a worker the temperature and it was almost 100 degrees and was informed it’s been this way for months now. Can’t believe people are working in these conditions. Low rating is so this gets seem hopefully by corporate and does something here, this is unacceptable. Otherwise please support these workers till they can get a working AC.
Update: I see that someone finally took the time to look at my review about the lack of AC. Your response claims your are deeply concerned and value your worker’s conditions deeply, yet it took over a year for a response to this issue? I’m a concerned family member of one of the workers who has been suffering through their shifts day after day because the AC can’t get fixed. I know upper management has been aware of this issue the whole time and has even attempted to fix it several times with half hearted attempts that broke within days. They then dumped the cost on the employees and then gave up after putting large fans in the building. All those fan do is blow the hot air from the 500 degree ovens around and is not a substitute for AC.
This has long since been a health concern and pretty unbelievable that this has gone on for as long as it has.
I've sent an email to the support email, but adding this update to my review as over a year has passed with...
