I can’t say enough good things about Queens Comfort Latin Kitchen in RVA. This was my third visit, and each time it just gets better, but this time trying their dinner menu truly sealed it as one of my favorite spots in town. I ordered the Pernil, which came out hot and impossibly tender. The shredded mojo roasted pork was packed with flavor, rich, savory, and well seasoned. The rice and black beans were the perfect comforting base, and the sweet plantains added that little touch of caramelized sweetness that balances everything out. I also tried the Ropa Vieja, and wow, this is the kind of dish that transports you straight to a Cuban restaurant in Miami. The shredded flank steak was simmered to perfection in a deeply flavorful tomato sauce with peppers and onions, soaking into the rice and beans underneath. Every bite was pure comfort. The tostones on the side were golden and crispy, perfect for scooping up every last bit. Everything came out fresh, hot, and clearly made with care. You can really taste the love that goes into the cooking here. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food never disappoints. One small note though, one of the servers was still learning the ropes, so just remember to be patient and kind. They were working hard to make sure everyone was taken care of, and it’s great to see local businesses giving people the chance to grow. If you’re craving authentic Latin comfort food that feels like home, Queens Comfort Latin Kitchen is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend. Five stars all the way :)

I visited here my second time yesterday and the experience was sub par as best. I came back as the first time I came I had such a pleasant experience with the owner but yesterday was just aggressively disappointing. First of all when I walked in no one addressed me. I was standing there for a while before I took it upon myself to ask the young ladies what the protocol was to be seated. I came in by myself and saw empty chairs so I didn’t understand why I was clearly ignored. I watched the ladies at look past me as if I wasn’t standing there. When I asked for next steps I was given an attitude and my entire experience throughout was met by weak service and attitude. I’m not sure if it was a racial thing as I had on a dashiki or what but I felt extremely invisible and the white people in this establishment were not being treated the way I was treated. The only reason I stayed was I was so hungry and felt as though I was about to faint otherwise I would have left. Even when I asked for chimichuri sauce and she BARELY GAVE ME ANY FOR A WHOLE PLATTER OF FOOD. Respectfully those waitresses need to be fired. See the pics below and how much food there was for the smallest scoop of sauce ever. They didn’t even fill up the sauce cup. It also took them forever to ask me if I was ready to order despite me sitting right in front of their faces at the bar. This restaurants food is great but their staff was AWFUL

My two friends and I were in Richmond on vacation for a spring break trip and came into Queen's Comfort during a slow period in the afternoon. Obviously the atmosphere of this place is great, colorful, and full of funny signs and memorabilia, but what really made the experience memorable was the food and the service and hospitality we received from the owner (Carlos?). He treated us like guests in his home, chatting with us about how this restaurant brought an element of Queens NY (the most culturally diverse place in the world) to Richmond, and brought us little extras to try. I wish I had taken more photos of this, but the food was phenomenal!!! Between the three of us, we got the chicken empanadas (Carlos threw in one beef one for the third person who actually wanted a beef empanada), I got the bodega bourbon chicken, and my friends got the milanesa, as well as a bunch of margaritas. The empanadas were friend to perfection (crispy, not greasy!), the sauces were delicious, and the dishes tasted like home while at the same time being creative. I only wish we lived in the Richmond area to try everything on their menu. It's obvious that this restaurant prides itself on good food and good service. It made our week in the Richmond area very memorable.
