Maki Sushi & Cocktails — Restaurant in Riverside

I came here after reading the reviews raving about the sushi rolls and was super disappointed. I got the DTR roll which sounded so unique and fun cuz it has lemon on it. Unfortunately this one was way too sweet for me. I also got the cilantro roll and even though I typically love cilantro, I didn’t like this one at all. I couldn’t put my finger on it why I didn’t like it but I could only eat a few bites. I also didn’t like how soft this one was especially cuz the rice was pretty saturated with the sauce. For $18/roll, I was so sad I didn’t like either one.

I also got the cherry blossom marg (I can’t remember the exact name) that had watermelon Red Bull in it. While this was tasty and refreshing, I didn’t realize they’d serve it with the Red Bull can upside down in it. I did not need a full Red Bull in my drink, and honestly I was embarrassed drinking it. If this is the vibe you’re going for, it’s a tasty drink, but again, just not for me.

The positives: The service was great! The two girls working were lovely! Also the presentation of the rolls were great. Super cute little spot.

I’m sure someone with different taste would like their sushi rolls (just read some of the other reviews) but they really weren’t for me.

Note: They’re located in a food hall, so you can either post up at the bar or take your food to go.

I really hate leaving negative reviews for small businesses, but I just feel like this comment section let me down, so I’m hoping this helps set someone else’s expectations a bit more realistically that this spot isn’t for everyone.
