This was hands down one of the most vile and unsanitary restaurant experiences I’ve ever had in my life. From the moment we walked in, I could tell nothing was fresh. The food was sitting out for hours, untouched, growing cold and crusty. It looked like it hadn’t been changed all day. That is how people get sick. Cold food sitting out like that becomes a breeding ground for bacteria.
I made the mistake of eating their so-called BBQ chicken. It was completely undercooked. Pink in the middle, I nearly gagged. I cannot believe something that raw was being served to people without a second thought. Do they even check the temperature of their food? Do they even care? And the plates. Oh my god. Stacks of them, all dirty. Caked-on food, grease smears, bits of crust stuck to the underside. I had to dig through at least six plates before finding one that didn’t make me feel sick just looking at it. How do you serve guests filthy plates and think that’s okay? We were also seated next to piles and piles of dirty plates that no one even bothered to pick up the whole stay.
The restaurant was beyond filthy. We were seated next to a pile of used, crusty plates that were never picked up the entire time we were there. The floor was sticky. The tables around us were covered in crumbs and dried food. Nothing had been wiped down. It smelled like old fryer oil and mold. It was absolutely disgusting.
Then we made our way to the dessert area and somehow it got worse. Every dessert cup was hard as a rock. The pumpkin pie was ice cold and not in a good way. It was frozen solid in the middle. You could tell none of the desserts or anything else had been swapped out or refreshed the entire time we were there. It was all just left to rot.
To make everything even more horrifying, I caught a glimpse of the back area near the kitchen and I wish I hadn’t. Food was smeared everywhere. Counters were dirty. There were trays piled with old food just sitting out. It looked like nobody had cleaned anything in days. Maybe longer.
After eating there, my entire family got sick. We are all dealing with stomach issues and nausea. This place is a health hazard and I will be reporting it to the health department immediately. It is not just gross. It...
Read moreI must say that it has been a few years since I had been to this location and they really stepped up their game. Since they closed the Monroeville location during the pandemic this is the only option in the Greater Pittsburgh area. I was pleasantly surprised. The food bar was kept clean and neat. There also was a great representation of diversity among the staff. All the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcomed and gave top notch service.
The salad bar is downsized from the options that they used to carry but everything was cold and really fresh. No shredded cheese but they had cubed pepper jack cheese.
I arrived before 11AM for breakfast on a Sunday and I thought it included the fruit juice station. Maybe it doesn't offer it anymore or I arrived too late. I had a pork steak that was at least 1 inch thick and the grilled meat was falling off the bone and very well seasoned. I was blown away at how they managed to do such an excellent job cooking such a thick piece of meat. I always go to the Golden Corral for their pot roast but that piece of grilled pork left such an impression on me I actually forgot to get the roast beef.
They really did a good job of keeping the food fresh and crispy. Nothing was dried out and they were very attentive to the food stations. When I went to the dessert bar I noticed that the soft serve is now behind the bar and served to you. They also changed the brand from what was used in the past and it tasted better than DQ. The carrot cake was in a cupcake form rather than a slice and it may have been the best carrot cake I ever had in my life. It was moist, fresh, not overly spiced and the frosting was perfect. I also tried a little bit of the apple cobbler and hands down it was the very best I ever had from a Golden Corral due to its brown crust caramelized escalloped apples.
I feel so blessed to have eaten there and with much gratitude I recommend that others also...
Read moreThey started dinner at 11AM because of the day of the week thus charging dinner prices, I’m an understanding person I’m cool with that.
So I come in at 11:30AM expecting dinner because I’m paying dinner prices and what do I see? Massive totes of scrambled eggs barely warm, dry breakfast pizza (but no normal pizza) dry French toast that’s hard as a rock and cold breakfast potatoes and plenty others.
I’m not expecting you to do a miracle in that kitchen and have the full menu out at 11:30 but for there to be NOTHING dinner related and charge me more for it is laughable.
If you are going to charge people THAT MUCH more for dinner prices there BETTER BE dinner items for me to grab.
You had more than enough time to start making literally anything that’s dinner related ahead of time and put it out there (couldn’t order a steak either btw lol)
I haven’t even grabbed a plate at this point after going back and forth down the food serving area for about 10 minutes looking for food (Also seen some cooks putting food out in the serving area with no gloves on) so I go to the manager asking for a refund and the manager told me they can’t really give me money back but guess what?
The manager magically found a way to give me my cash back, so I took it and went to a restaurant up the hill serving the proper food for the time of day instead of food that’s been sitting there for who knows how long.
What a disappointment and it didn’t even have to be this way, this is something a server could figure out and yet the manager seemed flabbergasted that I was mad there was no dinner items.
Honestly if they would have charged me breakfast prices I would have been ok with this whole situation but nope people have to be greedy so that was never an option.
I won’t be back, I come to buffets to get food quickly not wait around for food that should be out already and barely even good quality at that. Who waits for food...
