China Star — Restaurant in Rochester

Stopped to pick up carry out over lunch. I ordered online- it was easy and fast. Our order was accurate and food was hot. Egg rolls were smaller than regular egg rolls. The store does have some limited seating. Restrooms in back- one out of order. The lady who took my payment and prepared our order was NOT friendly. She was yelling at me, with frown on her face when I asked her to repeat what she was asking. I’m not hard of hearing, I just didn’t understand her question. She was asking how many sweet and sour sauce I wanted. Her yelling and speaking louder didn’t solve the language barrier between us. It only made me want to leave. I stopped to get three separate orders to deliver to three friends who I thought needed a day brightener. I wasn’t sure I even wanted the food after dealing with this negative women. Cute little place, very clean. The waitress was nice but may have had some difficulty understanding one another. Not that I mind, I love communicating. I got an order of eggrolls which were boring but typical. Also got the house noodles aka Singapore style noodles (a yellow curry based dish). I asked for her to have it made mind scorchingly hot but it was a timid dish. Good rich flavor but no heat. I understand that I don't look like I can take it, but I grow and eat peppers for the simple joy of the peppery flavor. If someone says extremely hot, make them pay for it! So overall my experience was decent. It is still in the end take out chinese and want to judge fairly. I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce dinner and it was delightful! I would happily order that again, the crab rangoons were fried nicely and had a fair portion of stuffing inside. But the sweet and sour meal I ordered came with no sauce... so that was a major disappointment. The chicken was great, not overally breaded, but would have appreciated the sweet and sour sauce vs just having "chicken nuggets". The fried rice was also well done.
