We arrived about 8:30pm on a Friday and although the wait was nonexistent, we still managed to wait at the door several minutes before being noticed. I say this because our child had ample time to point out every toy in the nearby arcade game and I had time to nearly read the latest issue of Best Restaurants in Rochester from cover to cover. Upon being seated, the hostess said our server would be right with us. Another near ten minutes later she arrived. If she had been playing a game of charades, it was obvious she had just drawn a card to describe apathy. We asked for water, and after another lengthy amount of time it arrived. We were excited to hear they had a gluten free menu and our server indicated she would go get one. Another fifteen minutes passed by as we reread our original menus. By this time, our server was spotted sitting in a booth along with three other servers and the hostess eating and talking. We contemplated walking over to see how that gluten free menu retrieval was coming along and ask if she was enjoying her meal, but feared having our own food spit in if we found ourselves fortunate enough to order. Honestly, simply not worth it. A good thirty minutes later as we waited along with three other tables in a restaurant which should be full on a Friday night, we decided to leave. We never do that. And although we had heard good things about Broadway's food, their horrible service was nauseating. Upon leaving, we asked at the bar if a manager was available, but no manager was on site, nor would be there until the following Tuesday.
Sadly, Broadway Pizza is like watching a group of teenagers housesit a very cute, well decorated home with wonderful potential, only to find later they ate all your food, left the water running and let the house burn down due to a very entertaining episode of Jersey Shore which clearly...
Read moreHow to lose a customer for life (and possibly others because of my story) over $1.50. My family and I come to Minnesota a few times a year - we have a large family, and this year, we decided to stay at the TownePlace Suites - a fantastic property with a killer pool just down the street from Broadway Bar & Pizza. It will probably be where we stay on many of our future visits since our kids loved the pool so much. Needing a late night snack, I figured I'd try out Broadway Bar & Pizza on our very last night in town after the kids went to bed. I got a single order of Cheese Curds for $8.50. I ordered online to try and save a few minutes of sitting around. When I arrived, I saw that Broadway Bar & Pizza has a late night menu where the Cheese Curds are $7.00 instead of $8.50. I saw the flier and asked about it - the bartender / manager said that had I walked in off the street and sat down at the bar while they were making them, she would have "bent the rule" and put them in a box for me so I could take them out.....however, because I ordered in a more convenient manner, I now had to pay the regular price. Mind you, there is nothing on said flier that says it must be eat-in only....I don't quite understand why people make such short-sighted decisions...it's not like there was anyone there at 9:15PM on a Sunday night...when my family comes to town again, and we are a completely captive "restaurant requiring" group ready to spend a few hundred dollars on food over the course of our visit, we'll be sure to steer clear of this place. Even if we weren't from out of town, not honoring a promotion over a little known technicality isn't good for business either and certainly doesn't foster return business. Thanks for capturing the extra $1.50 from me and allowing me to see the true "spirit" of your establishment for such a...
Read moreWe visited around 1pm on a Saturday. The place was fairly empty and we were seated immediately. Service was good. Soft country music played in the background. Our booth was comfortable and the environment was good for relaxing and chatting. The train quietly chugging around the restaurant was a nice touch. We ordered the 2 "solo" 9" pizzas (NY style), medium order of buffalo boneless wings, and the Not your Mother's Mac 'n Cheese Flatbread. The pizza sauce is tangy, almost like a pasta sauce. The sauce wasn't my favorite but my wife really liked it. The crust was a bit disappointing, it looks like one of those premade crust pizza kits you can buy cheap at Wal-Mart -a bit dry but certainly not bad. I understand their deep dish crust is better but that's not an option on their 9" pizzas. The toppings were good. Overall I thought it was a very "normal" pizza. I prefer Mr. Pizza but my wife prefers Broadway's pizza. The wings were alright. I would order them again. Like the pizza, nothing special. The flatbread was amazing. Everything we ordered was off the "happy hour" menu which came to a total of just over $30, an excellent value in our opinion. Overall this place is great if you just want to hang out with friends or family and get decent food but don't want to spend a ton of cash. Tons of different food options. They also have an affordable drink menu. We'll be coming back for their Wednesday night $30...
