I'll admit, the service and ordering takes a bit of getting used to, but the food tastes incredible with a conditional, all-you-can-eat ordering system.
For about $30/person at the all-you-can eat option, you get two hours to order all you would like from both a sushi & appetizer menu, as well as assemble "super bowls" along the grill counter, to be brought to your table. If you want beverages, appetizers, soups, or sushi rolls, you must fill out an order sheet or make a request to your table's server. The restaurant imposes additional charges if you order food you do not finish. It is a practical, cost-cutting measure, so make sure you do not request any more rounds of food you think you might be full.
We were new, and the staff walked us through the process with patience. It was confusing at first, but you truly get a lot of options to customize your bowls, and they will give you popular recommendations if you are not sure what to try. If you like mixing your own custom sandwich at Subway, assembling the perfect burrito or bowl at Chipotle, this place will do the same for all your favorites in Asian cuisine, with time to order seconds and thirds.
That being said, the service will likely be the most grating part of the experience. There are two different ways to order different parts of the menu, and the staff seemed to be giving painstaking tutorials to my party and just about everyone else who came in. It is a different kind of experience than you might be used to, but if someone recommends this place to you, it is because they pushed past that and got to taste the food this place has to offer. Please, give this place a chance. I will recommend it to as many...
Read moreWent for the $27 All You Can Eat. The employees kindly showed me how the process works and how to order your food, which is unique at this place. However, after the first time it becomes simple and even convenient.
The interior is newly renovated and you cannot tell it was a Hardee's. A BellaBot sometimes will serve customers too which is a cool addition to the dining experience.
Power bowls, sushi and appetizers were all great with the exception of the Rock Shrimp which is in desperate need of some sauce, especially since it costs extra!
No special drinks or alcohol menu yet, but that's no problem. They are still getting the place fully up and running since it just opened so I am willing to look passed that.
My only complaint is the waiter I was given. He was not very talkative and would silently walk passed our table unless we explicitly called him over. Also, later during my stay, my waiter began to seem impatient and somewhat rude despite the fact I still had 40 minutes left on my time limit. If that is a problem then maybe you should have put 1h30m as the AYCE time limit, not 2h! If the waiters attitudes are like this during their grand opening then I would hate to see what it is like in a few months from now.
But it was overall a very positive and unique experience especially for the Love's Park area. Highly recommended you visit this place at least once if you are nearby. I look forward to coming back in the future and seeing how things...
Read moreSmall portions – not worth it unless you are going for AYCE. If you order a bowl from the regular menu, the $15 portion is small. A man who appeared to be the owner reprimanded my mother-in-law for “taking too much” and “wasting his product” when she filled her bowl with vegetables and noodles (no meat). When my bowl came to the table after being cooked, I was surprised by how small it looked after the vegetables cooked down. I finished my bowl and did not feel full. The soft drinks came in ~16 oz cups for $3.50 each and we were not offered refills. I planned to get dessert because it is my partner’s birthday, but we were handed the check before we could ask about ordering dessert. The experience rubbed me the wrong way and I left feeling like the restaurant is stingy to diners who order from the regular menu. I would not recommend unless you plan to do AYCE and dine for 2 hours to get your money’s worth...
