Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Rockford Township

Rating the service and atmosphere as a one is a gift. Service was a negative two or one at best. On Saturday June 3, 2023 we arrived at about 1:37PM --the food arrived at 2:08PM. Thirty-one minutes for a hot dog, cheese burger, two fries and two cokes -- A diet and a regular. The car hop brought the food to the car and I immediately noticed that the content indicator tab on the lids (C DIET DP RB OTHER CR) where not used to indicate content so I asked the car hop which was the diet and she said "I didn't make the drinks so I don't know." An appropriate response might have been -- I am sorry, let me remake the drinks for you. Look at the pictures of the drink containers. It should have been obvious to any Sonic employee that one contained a carbonated beverage and the other was a slushie.

Other reviewers have commented on the cleanliness of the business and they have been generous in their reviews. I went inside to discuss my dining experience with the manager and the inside looked much much worse than the outside. I fully understand why she promptly ushered me outside while saying that inside is employees only. Was there a sign on the door so stating?

The conversation with the manager was so hysterical it was almost entertaining! "The drink issue is not a big deal it just got switched with another order." Not a big deal unless it was a carry out and a child got a coke when a slushie of some type was ordered. Tell a child this is not a big deal!

The manager summed up our conversation by saying don't come back because we will not serve you. Did she think that I would actually care? I have been to Sonic twice (The previous visit was not much better.) and most likely not coming back to this Sonic...

After visiting their location today, not being able to rate this location a 0 star is disappointing. Never in my whole life did I ever think I would be wait 20 min! In the drive-thru for a kids meal (Hot dog and tots) would be acceptable! I was very patient to even let 10 min slide. Management is rude and unprofessional & employees are careless. I requesting my money back and asked to speak to the manager. Instead of the manager being understanding & apologetic after the long wait she showed her frustration and use the excuse that they were short staff and that it takes 6 min to cook “warmup” a hotdog. Mind you I was the only car in the drive thru when I placed my order. She is so short staff that one employee was to busy texting & the other one was busy walking around with uncooked hotdog in his hands with NO GLOVES! I decided to call corporate and report the issue. While the manager worked on getting me my money back, the representative that was taking my case asked for the zip code and managers name, I asked for the zip code of her business and she refused to provide that! She said that if it was so called “ corporate “ they would have it. Talk about unprofessionalism . It was very inconvenience that I had rely on asking Siri for my location so I can provide that (sorry I’m not from loves park) I asked for her name and she refused as well. First time coming here I guess since it reopened. Its been vacant since we moved here in 2022 and closed not sure why. I ordered a #12 which is a chicken strip dinner and its always been however many chicken strips, either fries or tater tots. Onion rings and a toast with white, gravy or other sauce. But now apparently its just chicken strips your side of fries or Tator tots and a drink. They charged 8.69 for that. The chicken strips were skimpy and thin. When I asked the lady at the window if that was all of our food in one bag she said yes. You can check it if you want. I said it comes with and she repeated what it is. Apparently she didn't know that it used to come with all that. She asked for my recipe which I didn't have cause she hadn't given it to me. The combo was supposed to come with a drink but they charged 1.90 for the rt 44 and the chicken and tator tots cost 8.69 on its own. The coney dogs were on the bottom of our order which smashed the cheese and chilli into the wrapper. There was barely any chilli to speak of. For 5 chicken strips they added a 1.20 so it was 11.79 for a rt 44 iced coffee with a tator tots and 5 chicken strips. Half of their stalls don't have screens to park at. When we circled the lot we found one it said that the system wasnt working so we went thru drive thru. Not worth it. I won't be back. They completely ruined how excited I was to have a sonic...
