The Palm Room Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Rockport

Ordered the crab bites and a burger. It took over an hour the get the appetizer despite not having many people there. Another 20 minutes to get the burger. I then asked for a side of mayonnaise, and he brought me sour cream. The items were good. The bar has limited bottles. I asked the bartender (who was serving us in the dining room) if they had a few different things, to which he replied no. I asked well what do you have he laughed and said not much it's for old people. I ordered a Cosmo, the worst one I ever had, and my friend ordered a rum punch. She finished hers and tried to order another while waiting for our food (almost an hour in at this point) and he asked who was driving, he wasn't gonna serve us another. I stated we'd had 1 drink and were still waiting on our food then he tried to state some TABC law. He finally gave her another and our food finally came I asked for the check. He seemed nice enough but needs to work on his customer service skills. If he was trying to be funny he fell short. He did ask why I didn't like my drink. I stated I didn't know there was something weird in it. He asked if it was the Cointreau (which he didn't pronounce correctly) I told him it wouldn't be that. So I asked what he put in it and he didn't even state Cointreau as an ingredient but a whole lime and something else which is why it was so bad. I get it's a small hotel bar but in a tourist town (I live here) they should have some basic drink mixes down. Probably...

I had dinner tonight with the family at The Palm Room Bar and Grill inside the Lighthouse Inn. We live in Aransas Pass and had never heard of this place but it was recommended to us. We all had something different California Chicken, Burger, Club Sandwich and Shrimp Alfredo. The food was excellent and the service awesome! Owain was our server, very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu, was able to answer any questions we had. I didn’t get the names of the other staff, but they work really well together. The other server helped bring our food out, the bartender brought us our drinks and made sure they were to our liking. And Peter came by to ask how our food was. We are staying at The Lighthouse and decided to have drinks at the bar then dinner at The Palm Room. Mark was our friendly bartender/server who did a grand job with our meal. The Crab Poppers appetizer was excellent and we followed up with the Jumbo Shrimp platter for Deb and the Shrimp and Redfish platter for me. Both were perfectly cooked, goodly portions and well presented. And the French fries were the best I have tasted in years! You really cannot beat local Fresh Blackened Redfish and Jumbo Shrimp perfectly cooked. Deb had the Sauvignon Blanc and I the Voodoo Ranger Juice Force IPA to wash it all down.
