I've been a coustomer for many, many years, and this is the 1st time I have left Soulmans feeling disappointed and completely ripped off. Out of cabbage, extremely small portions, out of ice cream, out of pickles!?!? What the hell happened to this place....With over 2 hours before you close. Really. Literally 1/2 the reason I go here is for that cabbage. Asked for lean brisket I got about 6 slices of the most pathetic paper thin cuts of meat I have ever seen literally as thin as pepperoni and wasent longer than 3ish inches and was by far nowhere near a lean cut. Again been coming to Soulmans for a long time and eat at all 3 locations in my area pretty often, at least hit one of them up a month. I know how much of a portion I'm supposed to get and it was at best 1/3 the usual. Went to get pickels and onions and pickles were almost completely empty wasent even enough for me to get a cull cup. Suffice to say, I was disappointed before I even got to the table. After I ate went to get ice cream while approaching the small line(family of 4 with 2 small kids) i walk up to hear the kids complaining that nothing was coming out...so ya the ice cream was also out and judging by the pile of about 8 discarded cones laying all around the ice cream machine it has been out for awhile. Witch tells me my whole bad experience was due to a bunch of lazy employees that just didn't feel like working. Place was clean only a few small groups in there so tells me it wasent like a rough night being busy I could at least get that, but nope, it just seems like pure laziness. But they had no problem having me pay a good amount of money for what I consider a very mediocre meal at best. I feel completely ripped off. Could've gotten...
Read moreI will have to admit the truth, I've put this review off for later cause I wanted to post the pictures of the delicious food but couldn't because I always ate it first. I just couldn't wait to take a picture. This food is so favorable and juicy I just can't wait to eat there. My go-to selections usually are the Half Chicken dinner, the baby back ribs, and the double barrel baked potato with brisket and fully loaded. The sides are prepared like homemade. My favorite is the fried cabbage, coleslaw, beans, and fried potatoes, to name a few. Don't forget the yummy desserts from custard pie, Pecan pie to freshly made banana pudding. I always grab an ice cream cone from their self-serve vanilla ice cream machine. I love all their food. The meats are smoky, fresh, delicious, and juicy. I highly recommend giving Soul Man a try. You will not regret your choice. Each location in Rockwall the staff is friendly and the store is very clean. Easy location access from the main roads and off 30E and W, but location is on the East side. Plenty of parking, including handicapped down front. Check their...
Read moreWe had a very, very pleasant experience today At soulman's barbecue 😋. I've been a loyal customer since the 80's when Casey worked the till at the south Garland location. I love soul man's brisket, ham, sausages, chicken & ribs. The sides are great, some seriously tasty fries & banana pudding that's almost worth it's weight in gold. I've not had a single experience that was less than stellar and exmplorary of dedication, craft & love. It's truly amazing when you see a work of love such as the owners along with their fine family of workers who take obvious and great pride in every aspect of their jobs. Today my fiancée had a loded baked potato and a slice of buttermilk pie while I had the 3 meat plate with brisket, ham & sausage, fries, mac-n-cheese also a baked potato fully loaded and a choped beef sandwich to take to my dear old mom. I highly recommend soulman's barbecue to any and all who want to know what good food is. I have watched with immense pride and joy as soulman's has expanded to many other area's and not lost one beat of their style...
