I use to love this place, despite the sewage smell and disgusting smelling bathroom, however just recently I visited and I got under cooked chicken... Absolutely disgusting!! Not to mention, I breastfeed and undercooked poultry is definitely not healthy considering. So yes, I called and complained this last time and I was told to come back another day if i couldnt come back that day for them to replace it by their manager (the wife of the owner) but the owner refused to follow through with what the manager/his wife said. He stated when they talked to the cook that he said "it was done" and I'm pretty sure im the one who attempted to eat the under cooked protein and I KNOW IT WAS NOT DONE... so nevertheless MY FAMILY WILL NEVER RETURN!!! I spent my hard earned money to get RAW chicken...NEVER AGAIN! Not to mention this was on my lunch break 😑 and I have spread the word to my friends and coworkers as well (as promised to the owner when I spoke with him). I even told the owner I was going to leave a review and he said he didn't care because he "gave me a salad with my order" and told me to have a great day and hung up on me...A SALAD SIR... REALLY???!!! I ordered chicken (PROTEIN), it was under cooked/practically raw and your excuse was "you gave me a salad" I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE SALAD, didn't ask for it and didn't eat it... I WANTED MY MAIN MEAL!!! so, I starved at work instead and get nothing but attitude to make up for it.
This business doesn't deserve to thrive!!!
The owner is RUDE and cares less about customer service. Also, please view Destination Rocky Mount page on Facebook to see other reviews about how other locals feel about the restaurant just to prove it's not just my experience alone that has had negative impact. Please don't support a place that doesn't care about its customers. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY TO A...
Read moreGreat food, great prices, super fast lunch time service all with a free side of RUDENESS! If you're hungry & JUST want good Mexican food for a reasonable price then I'd recommend San Jose Taco & Tequila. If you want good Mexican food AND a smile or any hospitality, thien this probably isn't gonba be your best choice.
Went here for lunch today & the waiter was EXTREMELY RUDE! He brought us a bowl of chips & some salsa to the table & there was a long hair in the chip bowl on top of the chips!😨😨 We told him when he returned to take our order & he simply in a smart alec tone said, "oh that's mine" (meaning the hair) & took the bowl & set it up on the railing across from our booth. Never apologized or anything. Took the order & was very short, never mentioned or offered sides with the 2 tacos that I ordered, I had to ask what came with them, which was nothing, and so I added on rice & beans to my order with zero input from him. It was not busy AT ALL in there but he appeared to be in a HUGE HURRY while taking our order. Whatever, obviously while working for tips he missed the part about the tip is based on your service.....So the food arrived & it was FANTASTIC! I had one crunchy beef taco & one soft beef taco with rice & beans - very good! Salsa & chips at beginning of meal were awesome, less the hair of course in the 1st bowl. We almost got up & left after the hair & rude waiter but decided due to time, to stay & eat, glad we did. I wasn't there looking for a friend, just grabbing a quick lunch. So if you're JUST LOOKING FOR great Mexican food I'd return again, just check your chips & everything else for that matter. If you're looking for a warm fuzzy & needing to feel love, I'd go elsewhere so you don't get disappointed....
Read moreThis particular San José is actually one of our favorites. My personal choice on the menu, surprisingly is a baked potato I typically get as an entrée, along side a margarita. The baked potato comes along with your choice of either steak or chicken, and only sets you back $8. It's hard to find good eating for a good price. But, this is one of my go tos. We went recently with a larger party of 9 people, and 7 of us ordered different mixed drinks. I visibility watched the frustration of the bartender as she read the ticket. However, she quickly got to work and made it through the list of drinks. She sent them out as they were made, which was very pleasant. This San José has a raised floor in the middle of the restaurant with several tables for seating and the full U bartop. There is a ring of booths and table around this, as well as an outdoors patio area. This setup means just about anywhere you sit, you have some privacy, or, at least space between whomever may be sat next to you. One of our favorite San Josés. Surprisingly, out of...
