What a lovely experience in there I had this week. Lovely enough for me to leave a review to say thank you. I’m a simple customer who always orders the same thing, a black coffee with some caramel in it. Every single time I go in there the staff are all so friendly and courteous and civil towards me. Even if I’m in a bit of a rush or if they are they always say hello and we have a little chit chat.
The staff are amazing especially this young man called Graham. He’s charming and funny and polite, he even answered my questions about how to correctly clean an espresso machine properly, he asks me how my pet cat is doing as he remembers that I’m not a big dog lover. Little things like that truly make for a pleasant respite and Graham and the Charmers baristas are just that.
I’m leaving this review primarily because I went in the other day and sadly there was another customer causing a ruckus and being so very rude and borderline belittling to the staff. I was flabbergasted at how she was acting and how she mentioned something about her cup that she brings in. She was truly awful to them about how she wanted her this and how she expects that. It was embarrassing. But the staff dealt with it amazingly and when it was my turn to order it was like the previous irate customer had never happened. Professionalism to the core.
Love this place because the whole crew make me feel like a regular. Give them all a raise or buy them all dinner somewhere please,...
Read moreI reviewed Charmers 2 years ago and gave it 5 stars... I'm now editing it down to 2. This breaks my heart because I want the place to remain open. My friend and I were stopping here every Sunday after our walk, but we've since moved our weekly coffee spot to a place in Evanston. The service is abominable. If Starbucks/dunkin operated with the glacial pace and sour attitude of these people, they'd be out of business. I'm not sure why they take 15 minutes to get iced coffee and a scone. Or why I had to wait for window service for 15 minutes. There are 3-4 workers milling about in the place, but it seems they are completely unorganized. And then there are the wasps. You can't sit outside without being swarmed by very bold wasps that will land on you and your food. I had to forfeit my scone to them there were so many. For the love of God, please get a bug guy to find the nest or recommend some sort of bug control. You will spend closer to 12-15 $ per person after the tax is added - and I'd gladly pay it to keep our local spot going if the service at least...
Read moreCute coffee joint just off the Jarvis stop. It's nice and comfortable and has ample seating. They even have indoor swings! They have goodies in a cabinet. We came late so didn't have too many things left. The coffee was Metropolis!!! Soo good. It was nice and hot and fresh the way coffee should be. I was extremely impressed by the chocolate chip cookie!! It was soft and chewy. It looked like it would be crunchy and dry but it wasn't! It was worth every penny and I would do it again. The interior is chill. They have a cool Jarvis sign above the coffee bar. They have lots of different kinds of seating to match your needs. There is also a paid printer in the back corner. There is ample street parking around. Some are metered parking and some are free residential parking. Definitely get the cookie. You will not be disappointed!! I'm definitely coming back again and will try their...
