I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little kid, back when it was owned by someone else and under a different name. The people who work there are fantastic and amazing and the food is delightful.
Having spent some time in Belize with family, this food is exactly what you can expect, just a melody of Caribbean flavors and love.
If you decide to go here, there's tons of delicious food to get. From breakfast time to lunch I'd highly recommend the fry jacks with beans. It's a delicious way to kick off your day and it's just like they make down there. For lunch or dinner, you can never go wrong with the chicken dinners. Absolutely delicious and a knockout every time. Personally, my favorite dish are the meat pies and they pair well with any meal on the menu, and even stand up on their own (I'll get a platter of 6-10 meat pies with a Pineapple Sof Drink and it's perfect).
Overall, if you want food that's made with love and really calls back to it's roots, you can't ever go wrong with Redz. It'll fill you up and it's just wonderful.
P.S. If you want some dessert, see if they have any bun for you to take home. You slice it up and can eat it with cheese, butter, jam, or just like plain and it pairs great with coffee. Flavorful and delicious just like the rest...

Read moreWent in per the reccomendation of someone in Rogers Park Neighborhood group; also went in knowing that I could only get 1 thing MAYBE, (due to being broke) or just visit and tip and say "be back in a few days"
The service employee insisted I try out some chicken and rice to take home and 1) that is a huge point for customer service 2) That chicken and rice was so. Fricken. Good. Oh my gosh. It was the most basic thing on the menu so now I want to try so many more things but oh my GOSH so good!!
Only reason I'm giving a 4/5 on food is bc I feel the chicken and rice is like, the most basic. So I'd like to try their actually more belizian-style foods. particularly I would love to try that red snapper. I am not a big fish eater, but it sounds really good, and I like to explore!
Only reason i'm giving it a 4/5 on atmosphere is because it isn't a fancy place. The vibe was very friendly and happy and welcoming though and the place looked pretty clean.
The picture is the sample given to me by the FOH employee, placed on my own plate at home - so do not assume that is the usual size. But still oh my GOSH so good.
PLEASE VISIT!! So good.
I'll be here...
