Chicken Maisón — Restaurant in Rolling Hills Estates

I rated this place five stars before, because the food and service were both great. However what happened yesterday ruined my lunch and my experience. I paid the cashier and told her the amount I gave her at same time; the cashier took my money, said nothing, put it away then gave me less change than she should. When I asked why, she then said I gave her less than I told her! I asked why you didn't say so before you put the money away? She started to argue with me to insist that I was wrong. When I asked to speak with manager, she said she is acting as manager. After about 8 minutes, she said how about a free drink, I said no, I just want correct change. I my view, cashier should put customer's payment on the counter, gave change to customer first then put money away, so in case of dispute, the original money is still there for counting. I would not be upset if she admitted her mistake and give me the correct change right way, but she didn't. We also noticed there was no air conditioning, the room was very hot and uncomfortable yesterday, and the "lemon-mint water" tank was just filled with tab water. The worst manager ever! They got my order wrong 5 times at lunch today. I ordered 1/4 chicken, dark meat, spicy sauce and as the two sides I wanted the Med fries. What came out was 1/4 chicken, white meat, regular, regular fries. I sent it back and it came back just as it was. I sent it back again and it came back with the spicy sauce on top of chicken with additional bill for $1. I sent it back and it came back for the med fries and they argued that it was. I reminded them that the med fries has garlic sauce on it. She said "oh yeah". Came out again and when I cut into the chicken it was the breast. Then the manager argued with me that it WAS dark meat. I would think that by the 5th time they would have comped my order.

I called the owner and he hasn't returned my call. The manager is the owner's son. Figures!

I will never go there again, and I used to go all the time. And I'll tell everyone about my experience too.

Chicken Maison is average - at best. Essentially it's best of the worst as far as quick pickup food and twice as expensive. What annoyed me most about my experience was that the 18 year old kid that brought my food out assured me that everything was in the bag (couldn't double check it because it was tightly tied by the handles of the bag)-which when I got home 15 mins later and ripped open the bag found that it wasn't the case. So when I called them back to tell them what was missing - the resolution provided by the High School aged counter girl was to give me what was missing next time I was there. So essentially I would be overpaying for food I wouldn't pick up for a month or more. If this is customer service, they don't get any stars - only reason I give them 1 star is because the food is probably better then McDonalds, KFC, and El Pollo Loco - but this isn't saying much and I could have...
