A very minimalistic space that provides such a lovely and romantic atmosphere. A wonderful group of staff that tends to your every need without being overbearing. Your cup will never be less than half empty. Reservations are incredibly useful on the weekend if you want a table. If you're okay with a small cocktail table or sitting at the "kitchen table", walk-ins could possibly be accommodated. (It would be a hit or miss on that) Perhaps call and ask ahead (on weekends) before you make the trip, if you don't have reservations. Drink options ranging from water, sparkling water, tea, soda, $6 beers, lovely cocktails and various options for bottles of wine ranging from $30 on up to $450. This place is truly for everyone. The food is amazing! We had the smoked trout dip with wood-fired house crackers (it won't disappoint). My husband ordered the brisket pizza and I ordered the Shrimp Scampi pizza. My husband was caught off guard when his pizza came out with BBQ sauce as it didn't look like he expected from the details of the menu he read prior to ordering. Very quickly they realized he was given the pulled pork pizza. It was very, very good, do not get us wrong.. just not what he was expecting. They made the correct order and sent it with us to-go (we insisted we would keep the pizza they gave us) and the staff remained incredibly professional about the matter. The shrimp scampi pizza was amazing, and my husband consumed half of it. We had the chocolate soufflé for dessert and it takes about 30 minutes to make, so we ordered it as our meal was originally coming out. We rarely order dessert. It was very rich and just completely wonderful and more than enough for 2 people to share as the two of us couldn't finish it. We had the most lovely waitress. She was just absolutely lovely. My husband mentioned several times throughout our meal how she was the best waitress we have had in a very long time. He was right. We will be back Aventine! This is exactly what...
Read moreWhen we first arrived we weren't sure where we could park but you can park in the lot right across the street. As we went in the restaurant, we were greeted by some very friendly hostesses that sat us at our table right away. Very nice ambience there and nicely decorated. The waitress was very friendly and the service was fantastic. Our drink order was taken right away and I had a Gold rush, my wife had a Chardonnay, and my daughter had a fresh strawberry lemonade which were all delicious. My daughter was raving about how good that strawberry lemonade was since it tasted so fresh. We got the fondue and the tucker farm salad to start off with which both were great. Next we ordered our main courses which included the brisket pizza, skirt steak, glazed carrots, and the pommes frites. The pizza, carrots, and pommes frites were delicious. The skirt, I would never order again. To me, skirt steak is just not a steak you eat on it's own like that because of the texture. It really needs something you can wrap it up in. The steak was barely seasoned so eating a piece without the sauces was very bland. Dipping the steak in the blue cheese crema and port reduction didn't help any. The port reduction needed to be reduced further as I could barely taste it because it was just water and the blue cheese crema was just okay. We finished the steak because it cost $35 but all three of us agreed that we really didn't like it much. After the main course, we ordered the Banana Soufflé. The soufflé itself was delicious but none of us thought the pineapple gelato went well with it. The pineapple flavor just overpowered everything else. We couldn't even taste the caramel. Next time we order that, I would definitely get vanilla bean gelato with it instead. It would have been so much better. Overall, a great experience and will...
Read moreAventine is such a beautiful restaurant and the food was fantastic.
I started off with just some bread rolls and right off the bat between those and the sorghum butter I was hooked. It probably helped that my waiter explained how much of the food was made in-house, that's usually a good look. Also picked up a couple of cocktails that were absolutely fantastic (their old fashioned was so good with that bit of maple syrup). Normally, I love old fashioneds a lot more than any other cocktail, but the Viola 75 was so incredibly refreshing, I'm going to have to try that at home someday!
For my first dish (besides the rolls) I picked up the burrata which had a delightful melding of flavors. Admittedly, I feel burrata is usually kind of boring, but they not only stuff this with ricotta, they also give you wonderful little candied kumquats and this perfectly toasted bread to pair it with. So good!
My main dish was this beet risotto that I will probably remember forever.
Finished my meal with the Choux au Craquelin and a port. They have a nice Tawny port that isn't on the menu. Both the port and the dessert...
