let me first say that I really like this place. the food is always fresh and cooked nicely. My experience today was a little less than ideal. There is a blizzard going on right now. tons of snow and its freezing. I work at the Amazon building on Ecorse rd. It is maybe 4 minutes from this restaurant on a normal day. But because of the weather condition I opted to order the food to come to me. I used my laptop and google to order the food (they call it doordash storefront). my order is simple, a chicken burrito bowl and a side of chips and queso. After service fees, upcharges, delivery charges, and tip, I paid about $30 for something that would have probably cost not even $20.... which is fine, i will pay for convenience. On the ordering page there is a timeline feature that tells me when they are making the food and when it is on its way. When the timeline stated it was on its way, I headed to the front of the building to retrieve the order. Once to the front of the building I wait, looking for someone to walk up to the doors with an order. After a few minutes I went outside and scoped the parking lot, because sometimes deliverers wait in their cars. again i see no one that looks like they're trying to deliver food. This is where Im slightly at fault, cuz perhaps the deliverer was calling me and I didnt have my phone. But regardless i continued to wait, and search and look for 25 minutes or so before i gave up. I asked our front desk security if anyone had dropped off food and they also stated no. i head back to my computer and the timeline is showing the order was completed. I pressed the get help button and it stated to call the restaurant. I was hopeful because perhaps the person couldnt find me and maybe just took the order back to the restaurant. i call the restaurant and speak to someone about how i never received my order, gave them the name and order number. the person stated that it had already been picked up. i asked if it had been returned because i never received it. the person stated that the order was completed. And so a debate began. I said I understood that they weren't at fault but I paid for food I did not receive. whomever was on the phone stated that I could come in and get the order remade. I agreed, and began to make my way in the snow to the restaurant. When I arrive they are kind of busy so I wait my turn. when addressed by an employee I stated "hello I just called about a doordash order I didnt receive and the person I was speaking with said I could come in and have it made over." Immediately the employee said "NO". taken aback I began to explain the situation a little more clearly but the employee interrupts me and starts debating with me about how it wasnt their fault and that they would not be making my order. So I stated that someone I talked to said that they would remake my order. another employee pipes up and says that it was he who i had spoken with, but the first employee states again that still, they were not at fault and would not remake my order. at this point I asked to speak to the manager, remained calm and polite but still very frustrated. the manager was at the register, so I waited in line until I was at the register. The manager greeted me nicely and I explained the situation, but he debated that they were not at fault. I defended myself saying it wasnt my fault as well, and asking if there was a way they could file a doordash complaint later on but still provide me with the order. after a little more debate the manager did give the OK for the order remake, which I appreciate. He remained polite but his annoyance was clear. It was embarrassing and exhausting having to debate and beg for what I had paid for. Had the person over the phone told me nothing could be done, I would have just disputed the transaction with my bank. But after I had paid for delivery, waited for half an hour, been given the ok, and driven in the snow, to be met with an argument upon arrival was inconsiderate and unprofessional in my opinion. The customer experience was just not...
Read moreThe food is good, so I'd recommend ordering through door dash or online through some other site. The atmosphere and service, however, were abysmal. First, the restaurant smelled musty. I am not exaggerating when I say that upon entering, I almost threw up. I gagged twice due solely to the gross, inescapable smell that I walked into the first 5 minutes being there. It was not fun, and had I not been so hungry, I would have left immediately. The next ding was that the service was subpar, to say the least. They didn't say 'hello', or anything, when I walked in; they simply stood there and looked at me. I said, can I have a bowl, his reply, strangely, was, 'sir, look at the menu.' I reiterated that I'd like a bowl and he finally obliged. Then, every question was answered by telling me to look at the menu. I still think that my questions were warranted because all of the food was covered up, and I can see what I'm ordering at Chipotle and Qdoba, but I don't think that registered for the employee helping me. In the end, he didn't offer me a drink, so I had to ask twice for one. The treatment didn't feel racist in particular, but it did feel strange. The server was either extremely anxious or didn't want my money. I gave two stars because the woman helping the other guest actually seemed to treat them well and didn't tell them to 'look at the menu' as a response to every question. I won't...
Read moreTried this place for the first time, you can tell at the time they were newer so figured why not. The customer service is not bad, they all said hi and greeted me, but there was only had 3 customers in the store at the time and you could tell they were a little flustered or nervous, so I’m assuming they also must be newer to their roles in this place. The manager was nice.
I wish there was some music playing, it was a little bare bones in a way, could use more atmosphere and colors
The food was decent, no real complaints as I did finish my burrito. I got a large burrito for 13 bucks which is cheaper than chipotle. I wasn’t a huge fan of the rice, as it was too “tomatie” based if that makes sense. I wish they have more options on the type of rice as that makes a huge deal in this kind of burrito.
Also the way the rolled me burrito didn’t make much sense ans all the ingredients were either on one side or not mixed well when eating. I really like how qdoba rolls theirs. They smear the ingredients with the tortilla then roll it, which spreads things out great
Over all 3/5 - I would come back if there was no other option that seemed fit
They have a lot of potential to be even better as there isn’t burrito spot like this anywhere close until you get to Westland or belleville . Also being next to the airport is huge - hope to see them improve more...
