If I could give Baldamar a 20/10 I would. Our experience at the restaurant was absolutely amazing.
Ambiance/Atmosphere: 10/10 Waitstaff: 10/10 Drinks: 10/10 Food: 10/10
We Ordered:
•DRINKS• •Brooklyn Bonfire- Ordering this drink was a a fun experience & it tasted great! When they bring the drink out to you the glass is upside down with hickory smoke trapped underneath. The waiter picks up the glass and you get a nice scent of the hickory smoke before he puts the bourbon cherry in the glass where he then pours in the cocktail from a cute globe like glass. I almost ordered an old fashioned but the waiter suggested this-I’m glad he did! It was an awesome alternative and really enjoyed the experience. I would definitely order this drink again. •Peaches & Tea- This drink was light, refreshing, and not too sweet! Again, presentation was great and taste even better.
•STARTERS & MAIN COURSE• •Spicy bacon lobster Mac & cheese- This starter/side was SO delicious. It was creamy, it was cheesy, and there was plenty of lobster. Of course it also had delicious bits of bacon. Not too spicy but just a small kick-the perfect amount in my opinion. •Lobster roll with a Cesar salad as a side- This lobster roll was so fresh and delicious! The brioche roll it comes on is buttery tasting and toasted with PLENTY of lobster. They are not stingy with their lobster either! It was everything we wanted in a lobster roll. The Cesar salad as a side was very nice, light, tasty, and refreshing! •Tamarind braised short rib- This dish was amazing! The meat is so tender its unbelievable. And the flavors with the pickled mango salad and shaved asparagus on top added another delicious dimension. Not even to mention the sauce-yes it gets even better with the sauce! Portion size was also pretty generous. If you love short rib you will love this dish! •Salmon Cesar salad- This Cesar salad was so refreshing with the fresh crisp lettuce, delicious dressing, crunchy croutons, and perfectly cooked salmon. It is a more than ideal meal portion for those looking for a slightly lighter option. The amount of salmon given was also very generous.
•DESSERT• •mocha mud pie- This cake was SO worth it. If you like chocolate and coffee you will love this cake. It is an ice cream cake with of course that delicious cookie layer as we all know ice cream cakes come with. The crunchy cookie layer comes with a twist- roasted walnuts and yes it was a delicious combination. Not only that but they top it with whip cream, fresh hot fudge and caramel! This cake is not too rich but the perfect balance between chocolate and coffee with a little crunch. This was shared between 3 people and there was plenty left over. The size of the ice cream cake was absolutely ginormous and made to share.
Our Experience: We came in for lunch without reservation. We were able to get seated quickly by a very friendly hostess. After seating we got water immediately and was greeted by our waiter, Chris. He welcomed us in and asked if we have ever been in before. It was everyone’s first time so he kindly ran us through the menu and highlighted some options. As we were ready to order he took everything down and put the order in right away. The food came out quickly, it had amazing presentation, and all tasted SO amazing. While we were eating Chris was very attentive and checked in often to make sure we didn’t need anything. Our waters were always filled when they got at least half way. The Manager Michael stopped by during lunch to make sure everything was to our liking. He was very friendly and it was pleasant speaking with him. A bit later the Chef Steve stopped by to make sure everything was tasting good. He was also very friendly and we enjoyed him stopping by as well. Overall I would have to say this is one of the better restaurant experiences I’ve had which is why I chose to write this long of a review. I’ve never written a review for a restaurant and thought Baldamar more than deserved it!
Thank you to everyone at the restaurant that contributed in our...

Don’t let the fact that it’s mall adjacent fool you, this place would be right at home in any major downtown in the world but since downtowns are going the way of the dodo it has been placed nice and accessible, right smack in the suburbs for your convenience. Now I’m not gonna act all “hey look at me I’m a connoisseur of décor and old world rugs” but I will say that the place is tastefully designed and it is clear no expense was spared. Upon entry you’ll find a bustling host stand. On this particular night I believe I counted six hosts and not a single one was scrolling TikTok… an old school warm welcome is an unexpected treat. You can rest assured the night will be worthy of your unrealistic expectations. Sit down and continue to be wowed, from the servers and runners to the bussers it is clear that this establishment holds a quality pre shift meeting. And I’m not talking about a “hey, ok listen up it’s Saturday night and there’s a youth hockey tournament in town so make sure you have plenty of crayons and maze menus available”, I’m talking about the kind of pre shift where the staff is quizzed on what the chef told them about the escargot. They’re knowledgeable, attentive and professional. You can show up in a hoodie but come on, put on a nice jacket and shoes and tell your lady to curl her hair… you deserve it! There’s one in your closet right? Right? Come on… buy a sport coat FFS. Your is old and is too small? Try some HIIT to get back your youth. Now the food, there’s a bread… it’s called “Bread is Life” because this bread will make you appreciate yours. I’m pretty sure this is of the baguette variety (again I’m not an expert) but I can tell it’s a quality bread. It comes toasted by something with two butters, one hot honey and jalapeño, the other blue cheese and bacon.. then they put a cup of chimichurri in there just to make the choice as difficult as possible. All three are off the charts! the Brussels sprouts are a ten out of ten! Get them. They’re drizzled in oil… these aren’t some feet smelling vegetables like your mom used to make. For the entree I went with the 14oz NY Strip which was cooked to a PERFECT medium. Now… I am very picky with how my red meat is cooked and this could not have been better prepared. I added to it the (perfect) bearnaise with crab and asparagus. I know some of you might be thinking “steak don’t need no sauce” and in most cases you’d be right… but not in all cases… definitely not in this case. Don’t deprive yourself of this, not this time. If you’re still awake after all that, get the 50 Shades of Chocolate… more drizzle… this time a warm chocolate sauce is expertly applied table side. Order an espresso martini to go with it, while the cake slowly Dr Kevorkians you to sleep the espresso martini defibrillators your gluttonous body back to life. I have a rule… when I take my wife out for special occasions no gift cards and no taking leftovers home. We “leave it all on the table”… but this cake was massive and well, I wanted to exhibit at least a little restraint and self respect while in public and She told me she wants to take it home so guess what… we took it home. There are restaurants and there are experiences, this is an experience. 92 of 92...
Read moreExceptional food and service! My husband and I took my father out to Baldamar for his birthday a few weeks ago. It was between Baldamar and Manny’s and my father ended up requesting Baldamar as it is closer to where he lives. I was skeptical to his choice, but so glad we went! It was a very snowy day, in fact it might have been a snow storm. That didn’t stop us or many others from dining in as it was a packed house, so definitely make a reservation. The parking lot was packed, but there is plenty of additional parking. We arrived a bit early, and our table was still ready right away when we checked in. All of those working at the front had smiling faces. I got a booth, and immediately we noticed the dim lighting and fitting decor in the restaurant. We were given plenty of time to review our menu (it was so hard to choose what each of us wanted.) we also ordered plenty drinks. Our server was super helpful, and also answered all of our questions as well as gave us a thorough explanation of the menu and their specials. We bought a bottle of wine for the table that paired perfectly with our meal. I ordered 2 extra dirty vodka martinis (the 2nd was dirtier the the first, as I like it) my husband ordered one of their whiskey sours and my father had one of their many old fashions. Loved the presentation of the drinks and they did not skimp on the booze. For our appetizers we ordered the chimichurri shrimp and 9 oysters. We loved the oysters along with what they came with (the little hot sauce bottles were so cute!), and the shrimp blew us away. The shrimp was much more seasoned than we expected in the best way, and the sauce/oil that was used tasted amazing. For our meal, we ordered an octopus for the table, I ordered a steak with scallops, my father had a prime rib, I believe, and my husband got the wagyu steak. Me and my father had ours cooked to a medium well temperature and my husband got his medium. Hopefully I’m not forgetting anything else that we ordered, we did splurge quite a bit that night (we also ordered a few sides at an additional cost, we didn’t realize one of our sides came with bacon, and we do not eat pork. As soon as the person who gave us our food heard that we didn’t know that there was bacon on it without question they took it back and quickly had a replacement to us .) All of our steaks were extremely tasty. They seasoned the steaks with nothing more than salt and pepper, and thats all it needed. Everything simply exceeded my expectations, and I cannot wait to go back again. I also heard that they have a fabulous brunch, which I am very excited to try...
