I’m hoping this review only impacts the Rosedale Mall Location. We have always had excellent service at the Eden Prairie Location and will continue to shop there.
My wife and I went to shop on the evening of Friday, Sept 27th, 2024. We both had finished work for the week, and last minute decided to grab a few items before we both left on business trips the following week. Our goal was a nice dress shirt for me to replace one, possibly a new pair of dress slacks, new black dress shoes, new casual shoes, a Marc Jacob’s for her, and possibly a new sweater/jacket.
I went to the men’s, and was immediately ignored. I was in joggers, and a t-shirt, but presentable, and neat. Definitely dressed down, but I was planning on trying on clothes so I dressed for it. When I did get a gentleman to help me, I told him specifically what I was looking for and he told me to look for a brand and then proceeded to walk away. Basically he pointed me to the most expensive shirt brand they sell. Didn’t help with pants at all. I wandered over to shoes, and looked at several pairs, and held them in my hand and waited. I saw a sales guy, but again, completely ignored.
I went upstairs to find my wife and she was upset because she’d been standing and wandering around the purses and the sales lady looked at her but wouldn’t come help her. We stood in front of the Marc Jacob’s display and watched 2 employees try to fix a cabinet and then the sales lady that had ignored my wife went and helped another couple, finally I asked the other lady if there was someone who could help us. She went and got keys, and tried but the other lady had to come and unlock the cabinet. She grumbled and hemmed and hawed and made it very obvious we were wasting her time. Bear in mind my wife had picked the bag she wanted before we got to the store. She just had to verify that her phone and wallet would fit.
The whole experience was so bad, we left with 1 shirt because I desperately needed a specific color, and didn’t want to shop anymore, and nothing else.
We both felt like we were judged based on appearance, not race, she’s white and I’m Korean but rather how we were dressed. We have never had this problem at Eden Prairie. In fact I had the best service of my life buying a suit for my mother’s funeral, and trust me I looked a wreck. Rosedale just had a different vibe. Read moreTonight I stopped in for the first time at this new department store. A friend told me they were known for customer service. I was impressed not only with the look of the store but with the friendliness of the staff. Once I got the item I had come to get, I started to leave and saw another item that I decided to get for a Xmas gift right at closing time.The salesperson, Brian, said do you want this gift wrapped. I said, normally I would but you are closing and the gift is a pretty big odd shaped item. He called the gift wrapping department and told them I was on my way up. He then went out back to look for a larger box. He then went upstairs and worked with the gift wrapping person, Carian, as they both worked to figure out the best way to wrap the gift! While they did this I was so impressed, I wrote out a card of praise on both of them since they were now definitely after work hours! Read moreI enjoyed everything about my experience at Von Maur. I actually was just parking there and was going to walk through to the mall to look for a cocktail dress, but decided to browse their department and I'm so glad I did! Von Maur is reminiscent of the way department store shopping used to be. Sales people available and willing to actual help you find what you're shopping for, they assist you with your needs - fitting room, sizes, etc. and were actual NICE and COURTEOUS. You just don't find that at other department stores anymore. The store itself (albeit new) was very clean and inviting and even had a piano player providing lovely live music.
