I was in the Roseville area and had heard decent things about Chubby's from friends so decided to check it out. Shared a turkey bacon sandwich with a side of cottage cheese with my husband. We had eaten the entire sandwich and all but a few bites of the cottage cheese before noticing an inch long dark hair on the side of the cottage cheese. When asking for the bill we pointed the hair out to the server, who was very apologetic and let us know she would inform the chef right away. About 2 minutes later she came back up to us and let us know she also contacted her manager, Jason, who said since we had eaten most of our meal we still had to pay full price or we could wait for him to show up to the restaurant to discuss our concerns with him. We never asked for our meal to be comped and needed to leave shortly to pick up our kids. We explained to her that we weren't looking for a free meal and didn't have time to wait for him to come in. She asked us to wait for a moment again and came back stating that she called him back and he still said we would need to pay (again not an issue) and we could come back in on Friday to share our concerns with him. We don't live in the area and certainly weren't driving all the way back just to tell the manager (who was already notified over the phone) that we found a hair in our food after eating almost the entire meal. Upon walking up to the register to pay the chef also came out and had apologized. According to the chef, who had also just spoken with manager "Jason", he was yelling at both of them on the phone saying because we ate most of our meal that he wasn't going to comp anything (once again, paying for the meal was not the issue). Both girls (whom I assume were in their early 20's) seemed very upset and uneasy about the whole situation. On our end, Jason seemed to be one of those a$$ hole bosses that's on a bit of a power trip and ran on employees fearing him. My husband asked for the number to call manager "Jason" himself. He proceeded to raise his voice the entire time and tell my husband that he doesn't give hand outs and had a basically too-bad-so-sad attitude. I honestly feel so bad for the employees that have to work under such a nut case. The food itself was good, and the customer service that we received by both girls working on 6/13 @ approx 2:30 PM was wonderful. However, manager "Jason" needs a little slap of reality. He can't treat customers or...

It was pure luck and chance that we went here. After church service, I wanted to take the boys somewhere nice, so I typed in a Google search and this came up as one of the options. After going over all the options, I decided --Chubby's. One of the first things I noticed were some people standing and sitting outside. When we went in to see how long the wait would be, we could see that every seat was taken. Those folks outside were waiting for a seat. Normally who likes to wait? But at the same time, what does it say about a place when people are willing to wait :-) I told the boys we're going to Wait and be patient. We only waited about 10-12 minutes. We talked and hung out and the people were nice. Our table was ready, we went inside. The atmosphere inside is so good. The service is amazing, and everybody is so engaging. Basically I felt like I was visiting family. I would have waited an hour for that kind of experience if I had to. Especially nowadays with opportunities of kindness more far and few between to show my boys. I was proud that they could see an example of people socializing and conversing and being very nice and kind of each other. All walks of life we're sitting down enjoying food. People that looked like they could have worked for tech companies all the way to people that looked like they could have been part of a biker club. I'm a veteran, and there were people that fit that description as well. The food was absolutely delicious. My sons couldn't believe how good their burgers were. And we were surprised to see that it wasn't on some cheap bun, they used really nice artisan bread for the burgers. I had chicken fried steak and eggs and it was exceptional. And man oh man, I'm so excited to find a place that has true steak fries! I'm talking about those big huge ones. Not wedges... steak fries! Yum. One of my sons ordered half steak fries half onion rings and they accommodated. We'll be coming here again. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner all day. If you're going to eat out, what better way to do so then at a place where the food, people and service are equally...

This place is as close to a traditional 50's diner as you can possibly get in this day and age. Classic vinyl seats with Formica tables, about half a dozen booths and just as many stools at the counter. VERY attentive and helpful staff, with a wonderful balance of being modestly sociable and informative. The Ultimate omelette was the ultimate on their menu, meaning it wasn't the "kitchen sink", but compiled all the ingredients of all the other omelettes listed. Sliced sausage links, healthy pieces of mushrooms and bell peppers, plenty of cheese, and crumpled bacon wrapped in a fluffy egg blanket. Potatoes were superb! Not just hash browns from potato gratings, but real potato slices grilled up to a crispy brown outside and a firm yet soft interior. Excellent sausage gravy for the biscuits, chicken fried steak, and potatoes. Apple and cherry pies were available, made in house, and delightfully tasty!

If you want an affordable, comfortable dining experience akin to yesteryear, Chubby's Diner should be on your list. I'll be...

Posting mainly in response to Ted’s review. First off: they DO have a kids menu: it’s listed in the regular menu. And they DO have a restroom, it’s just not for the public. If you’re a customer it’s available to you. This place is a good, traditional diner, with friendly staff and decent food. It’s a small, inexpensive place so you might wait an extra five minutes but considering everything costs five bucks less and it’s locally run I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. It’s not the best food I’ve ever had but if you don’t like something they’re super nice about it and will fix you something else. If you’re wanting some classic diner food and good prices I would recommend.

I love a small old school mom and pop diner. Uniquely made hash browns not that crap from a bag, try it you'll see. Delicious sausage and the biscuits and gravy are the best around the area. The gravy was so creamy, rich and flavorful. Far better than that overhyped joint down the street. The service was amazing as well, I cant remember the young girls name but she was so helpful and kind to me an my mom. She even gave me extra gravy to take home since I couldn't eat everything. Ill be back for sure. 🔥🔥🔥. Went back and got chicken fried steak today 10/23. Yes I put extra pepper on everything, even my my own cooking. Everything still delicious and service still great.
