This place use to be amazing. I am not sure what exactly happened but last I heard it was under new management, and every single time we went after new management it’s been a pretty bad experience.
We live a block away so this use to be our main location if we wanted to go sit down somewhere and eat. We would eat here at least once every two weeks for years.
Then our favorite waitress left, new management took over, and the food quality started going downhill very quickly. There was one time we received burned food, cold stale fries, omelet had a slice of melted cheese on top instead of the normal cheese filled inside. Soup quality went down big time. Takeout orders were cold and stale and really seemed like old food that was sitting out for days.
We are really hoping this location makes some changes because we loved going. We can’t justify going back until the quality of food is back to being good like it use to be. Also would love for biscuits and gravy to be back on the menu.
So for now, we’ve been driving a few miles down Gratiot and going to Leo’s instead.
I will say the Coneys are still good! Servers are still great, friendly, and attentive. It’s very clean as well and kid friendly. We aren’t picky at all, so if the food is not edible; something has gone very wrong. Here’s to hoping they bring the...

My husband and I recently visited National Coney Island for breakfast, and we were genuinely impressed from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting—exactly what you want for a relaxing morning meal. The space was clean, comfortable, and had that classic diner charm that instantly puts you at ease.
The food? Absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast or something lighter, there's something on the menu for everyone.
What really made our visit stand out, though, was the service. Our waitress, Sam, was an absolute gem. She was friendly, attentive, and had such a positive energy that made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely enjoys what they do, and it showed in every interaction.
We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back. If you're in the area and looking for a great breakfast spot with excellent service and a welcoming vibe, National Coney Island is definitely...
Read moreI had coffee which was served in a dirty cup so I had to ask for a new cup of coffee. My friends enjoyed their food (blueberry pancakes, bacon and an egger sandwich.) I think it's ridiculous to charge the same amount it would cost to buy a half gallon of orange juice for their large glass of orange juice around $3.50. And around $3.00 for a glass of soda? Seriously? Even the coffee is like $2.50 for a cup. You may as well sit their and drink a whole pot to get your money's worth. They do it because we'll pay that. Why don't the breakfast, lunch or dinner include a drink. You'd probably get more meals bought that way. So inadvertently, you'd be making more money. Also, how do restaurant owners get away without paying minimum wage to their employees? How is that even legal? Why is it legal? They did give every one a scratch off card. The the of us didn't win anything. Wouldn't you want to make everyone a winner so they come back. Free cup of coffee. Free ice cream sundae. Free drink with meal. Anyway, that's my opinion on these matters. Have a...
