Place was very dirty. It gives the McAllisters Brand a bad look. This weekend my family went out of town, it was suggested we try McAllisters because it was an upscale sandwich shop. We went and loved it! Thought we would try this location. What a mistake.
Went in lobby at approximately 8:33PM. Floor had crumbs and round wet spots around 2-3 inches wide all along the width in front of the counter. I had to walk carefully to keep from slipping.
No one was at the counter. A woman poked her out of the kitchen, made eye contact with me, turned and went back in the kitchen.
I approached the counter and noticed 5, or more, syrupy dried cup rings, and loads of crumbs all along the counter.
I looked at the floor behind the counter and of course there were crumbs and guess what???? A roll of cups was in the floor. I wondered would they throw them away, or reinsert them in the cup holder.
Since the woman had yet to return, I decided to walk over and look in the kitchen and I saw more filth.
In a pandemic none of this makes sense. I did not take pics because I did not want to risk exposure to anything that might be germinating.
I have many questions. Is the location under staffed? Are the workers poorly trained? Is the management team ill equipped to hire responsible, courteous people? Does the corporate management team under distribute resources to the location that serves the demographic at this location? Could the problem be all of the above?
I know this one point for sure⌠in no reality would I allow my family to eat anything prepared in such a...
Read moreThe only reason I am not giving this place one star is because I actually do like the food. I suppose I might be a little spoiled as we had lived in Southern Colorado for 9 years and when a McCallister's Deli had opened up in Pueblo Colorado we consistently received great food with even better customer service. The exact opposite is true of this location. I have gone here over and over again hoping that this time will be the exception to the absolute terrible service that I have received on a consistent basis. Everything from employees standing around doing nothing, watching a line of customers waiting to order while one employee runs a register and the others just watching pretending to look busy. There just seems to be an overall lack of concern on the part of the employees. Food takes forever most of the time, orders are wrong, missing items that should have come out with the order, inconsistency of how the food is prepared, employees dressed like slobs with shirts untucked and unkept, and the overall attitude of the employees. When you walk into this place, you somehow feel like you are inconveniencing them by coming to their establishment. There is a reason why when this place first opened up, you could hardly find a parking spot, but now the customers seem to dwindle more and more. The other McCallister's in the area are not like this in regards to service. (Valparaiso and Schererville) They need to start screening their potential employees better, because service like this will only further cost...
Read moreFirst time going here. Hard to find deli's any more. Pops Deli in Crown Point is so old, run down, small and ect.
Anyway found them by Googling deli's in the area. Guy that answered the phone seemed ok. Found the place pretty easy.
Place was very clean, temp was warm inside. Bathrooms were clean also. Decent amount of choices. No fries or chips were on the menu. Take out menu's were easy to find and grab for easier ordering. Most sandwiches on menu are $6 - $8 and comes with side such as mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. A baked potato is $4.50 with sour cream. They have 1/2 sandwich and soup special too.
I ordered the ruben with a side of mashed potatoes with a cup of water. My friend ordered the 1/2 spicy southwest chicken on grilled ciabatta bread and chicken dumpling soup and small pop bill was $19.
Food came within 10 - 15 minutes which is fine for fresh food. They brought it to us. Food was hot. We both enjoyed it. They only gave use 3 napkins for the two of us. None on tables nor recall seeing any on counter. Ruben was stacked high. Both came with pickles.
Over all would come back. Price was close to Portillio's next door and less greasy, it is not fast food so not going to be fast or dirt cheap. Did not read anything about food being healthy or natural like Panera or Chipotle ect. That would have been nice. Can't wait for the...
