Tucked unassumingly past the gates of fashion mediocrity between a China Mi and coming to you soon Shake Shack lies The Potato Bar. A temple of starch where culinary subtlety is gleefully cast aside in favor of molten cheese and glorious excess.
I began with the Cheesy Steak Potato, a dish that bravely rejects balance in favor of indulgence. The potato itself? A soft, buttery vessel. Perhaps grown in soil blessed by ancient snack gods. Cradling tender steak and a lava flow of unapologetic cheese and mushrooms. It did not whisper to my palate. It shouted, joyously and with carbs.
But the Tornado Fry… ah, the Tornado Fry. A spiraled helix of deep fried defiance, crisped to a golden hue rarely seen outside of Renaissance paintings. It is a fry that demands attention, admiration, and possibly a nap.
In conclusion: The Potato Bar is not a dining experience. It is a reckoning. A beautiful, cheesy, slightly greasy reckoning. Five stars. Would eat again while pretending “I don’t normally eat like this.”
Would have posted the before photo, but I couldn’t...
Read moreTried the tornado potato, it was delicious but it was definitely over fried bc it was completely crunchy no soft spots... I mean I still enjoyed it but I would have liked it a little less cooked. I kinda feel bad for even ordering bc the girl working looked miserable and seemed very annoyed having to deal with my order but I mean it's a business, she should be prepared for dealing with customers but I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day. 🤷🏻♀️ she also seemed to be the only one there so maybe her coworkers called out... Idk but I'll definitely give this place another chance, I did really enjoy the tornado potato and you can't really find them anywhere so I'll be back for another. Might try a baked potato or the tots next time but I feel like that's something you can get...
Read moreWe recently discovered the Potato Bar at Ross Park Mall's food court, and it was a delightful experience! My wife, who is Gluten Free appreciated the manager's transparency about cross-contamination risks - baked potato dishes and sides are all fine. Fries and chicken are not safe, and we could see that the fryer area was innl back corner away from the potato section. Everything is visible and prepared right in front of you. We felt safe ordering a baked potato, which was incredibly smooth inside—almost like creamy mashed potatoes! The toppings were generous, with hearty bacon and other adds gave it great flavor. With limited GF options in the food court, this spot was a pleasant surprise. Worth the visit for a quick bite when...
