Has there been a change in ownership or leadership here? This location used to be amazing, but the last few months itās just gone down hill with one thing or another. At one point, they were offering flimsy sporks instead of regular plastic ware. Lately, their unsweet tea is so dark and so bitter that I fill my large cup 1/4 with the tea and the rest of the way with water just to get the right consistency but today, it still tastes burnt or over brewed. The bags are flimsy and clearly a cheaper brand to help cut corners, paper straws instead of plastic and they donāt touch the bottom of the medium and large cups without smashing your face into the lid to take a sip. Today no less, the sweet tea was in the unsweet tea container (this does not take but an extra couple of minutes to swap it and get it right, rather than placing a handwritten note on it, written in highlighter to let your customers know about the mix up...) and while Iām on it - tea is cheap to buy as a retail store (cost accounting and analysis manager for a large restaurant group here so I speak from experience)... that tea should not be getting brewed that strongly. Less than professional and when youāre charging that much for a large drink to begin with, the profit on your tea is quite high. Get it right or donāt make it all. Next - plastic lids are not available right now as ācorporate sent us the wrong thingā. Instead, they are simply placing tinfoil over all bowls. This place has become a hot mess and it definitely needs an unannounced visit from several levels of corporate leadership. Save your time and go to any one of the other great restaurants near this one. This location is clearly cutting corners on the front end that you see and makes me wonder what corners theyāre cutting on the back end that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExtremely rude customer service from the alleged manager, Damon on duty. I simply ordered a small bowl which was made and then proceeded to ask about the chicaken protein bowl. He told me that I had to get it exactly like that and I told him that I wasnt fond of the salsa verde and would like yo sub it for the regular salsa. He then stated that he just said i couldnt substitute the salsa and that I can omit it and pay for the traditional regular salsa. And that it was clearly marked on the sign that I shouldāve read. Iāve been asked to proceed to speak with someone who can make the decision to substitute without me having to pay for additional salsa. He literally started yelling stating it was like what he just said and that the information was on the sign. If corporate could somehow see the cameras and this Merriville location on 2/18/22 at aroung 8:15pm cst then they can see his outlandish, ignorant and unprofessional behavior.
After requesting for Another manager that I can speak with, Damon continued to badger me while speaking with other customers that were in line. The curly head manager who was there I asked him about six times to disengage in the conversation with me as I was trying to explain to the new manager that I just want it to substitute the salsa. The curly head manager then told me to leave and that he was refusing to serve me and proceeded to call the police and tell them i refused to leave and was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy lady friend and I frequent this restaurant (she pays usually because she is a strong independent woman with a steady income thank you very much), and I must say that it has always been an excellent experience.
Well, except for this one time. You see, my lady friend and I like to sit in the same spot when we come. It's a table close to the main door, right next to the soft drink fountain. One day, to our shookening, a person had stolen our designated spot. I won't ever forget his beady eyes and smug little smile, that handsome bastard. I considered giving this specific qdoba a 4 star review because of this incident, but upon further consideration, I realized that the issue lied less in the hands of the well trained staff and more in our flawed moral system as a country. Demons who steal other people's spots are a product of our poor school systems and the moral degradation of the general population.
My favorite meal you ask? I love to share some vegetarian nachos with my lady friend (she is allergic to meat). Extra spicy queso...
