Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Rossford

One of the worst experiences we’ve had in a restaurant.

Our party of 4 arrived at the restaurant at dinner time (approx. 6:15 pm) and were seated in the expected time (30 min. wait). The restaurant was moderately busy, but it seemed to take a bit long to receive menus and have our drink order taken. Eventually, we ordered our drinks, and chips & salsa for an appetizer. The drinks and appetizer were served, and we placed our dinner order. We waited at least an hour, with no dinner served, watching other tables place their orders, receive their food and leave, while we still hadn’t received our dinners.

We talked to the manager and explained the problem. She assured us she would look into it. She came to the table after a short time, and explained that they had screwed up, but would have our orders to us in 3 minutes. Our dinners were served after 10-15 minutes, and each meal had something wrong with it. The Ranchero Chicken Taco dinner was luke-warm, the Chicken fajita dinner was steaming hot, but the rice, and onions and peppers were burned so bad they were stuck to the sizzling plate, and it was served without the guacamole or tortillas. The fajitas were almost inedible. Both the fajita and the tacos were left mostly uneaten.

The other two dinners were both ribs. One of them contained 4 very small ribs, and the other was 4 nice sized, meaty ribs. Both of those dinners were missing coleslaw. The manager was told, and it was brought to the table. One order had slaw dressing only on top of the shredded cabbage, while the other had no dressing at all, just shredded cabbage.

The manager did let us know that the meals would be discounted, but I don’t believe she let the server know, as the seemed surprised when we mentioned it to her.

I am only commenting on the facility itself, NOT our waitress. She did a good job considering what she had to deal with it. First off , we (myself and my two grandaughters) arrived around 7:30 pm and were told that there would be a 15 min. Wait. Fine but puzzling since there were numerous empty tables and only two people sitting on a bench in the lobby. We walked outside and returned in 10 mins. only to wait another half hour! After being seated in a corner by the kitchen and bathroom on top of the only other four people eating the waitress took our drink order. I was told there was no coffee. I told her I would wait for a fresh pot and she said no, you don't understand we have no coffee or tea period. Hmm. Them my grands asked for straws and were told no they had NO straws at all. So we asked for our menus and were told to go to a site on our phones and look it up! I was appalled and told her we do not have phones so she reluctantly got us "THE MENU" and requested we share it and return it as soon as we are done. She then apologized and said it was tax time and the restaurant had no money left to buy any stock! My suggestion is to please advise customers when they come in that the place is going out of business and they are running on limited funds, meaning short staffed, low supplies, and poor selection of remaining stock. Then tell them if they would like to still be seated their meals will be discounted to compensate for this Enough said. Our “server” came over when we were originally sat and was friendly, took our drink and app order. This was the last time we saw her till the end of the experience. Someone else brought the drinks (which one was not correct and we waited for a bit assuming she’d come back, when she didn’t we grabbed someone else and they brought the correct one over) and then a third server brought us the appetizer. We were about halfway done when a third server came over and took our order, yet another person dropped it off and then no one else came by. We asked someone else for boxes so we could just go.

We had zero idea who the actual waiter was considered for an our table at this point and no one had asked about anything, so we weren’t sure who the tip was going to at all. Didn’t see a name on the check and the only reason we could get out of there without waiting another 20 minutes for someone new to come over was because of the Ziosk on the tables and did not tip on the card. Waited for a bit to see if anyone else would come over and nothing.

Our original server made a reappearance suddenly after we paid, made a crappy expression and sarcastically said “Thanks guys,” I’m assuming the check was still hers even though she spent a total of 30 seconds with our table and then was nowhere to be seen the rest of the time.
