I came in to the shop today to buy some coffee and spend time with my friend. The staff says to me I'm "banned" from the store. There was an incident that occurred 10.2021 with a young lady (employee). She yelled across the coffee house to tell me I can't bring my own beverage inside. I went to the back patio. There were no customers there. This same girl comes outside and says I can't have my drink in the back patio too. I asked to see the manager. He came by and I spoke to him about this interaction. He said just ask next time. I never brought my drink again. I returned to the shop to think I was welcomed, but I came in with a friend and the young lady who yelled at me says to me I'm banned from the shop. The young lady lied about my banning. She pushed a false narrative that said I kept bringing my drink. I never brought a drink after speaking to the manager. She was quick to anger and hot headed. I left before things got worse. I've contacted management about this incident that occurred years ago. I said to them what transpired today. We never settled with a solution. I never got a reply.
Below I wrote long ago when I was not faced with harassment by staff:
Land of a Thousand Hills is all about the good things. A place to hang out. A place to study. A place to have good coffee. A place to experience care free friends!
There's a more outdoor friendly area towards the back. With a bench and some whimsical out of date furnishing. It's all about you though, right. Bring your friends. Bring up a coffee date you'll enjoy it.
The coffee house also sells pastries and some of their coffee. You are only there for the lattes though, right?
It could get a little cramped, inside, but that always means you need fresh air.
There's one bathroom across the coffee baristas so no worries there. Do you want to hangout but you are not into coffee? You can find that beside the restroom. Water! No ice, you'll have to ask for it, so be nice.
Take it easy. Relax. Have a good time. Drink coffee, bring a friend. That's their mantra. Quit missing out on...
Read moreMy wife & I opened and ran a coffee shop in the 1990s and early 2000s right outside of Chicago. We make it a goal to seek out a different place to try a cup of coffee every week or so. We stopped in Land of 1000 Hills yesterday to grab a couple coffees around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. Initially when I arrived before her, Iâd asked if they had any lunch foods, as I was pretty hungry. The young man working explained that they serve small-plate pastries and often bagel sandwiches, but that wasnât what I was in the mood for. We chatted for a few minutes about some food spots down the road near The Roswell Mill, and so I went to check one out, and explained Iâd be back, because the coffee smelled great.
It had been a little warm in the shop when I came in at first, but when I returned with my wife, itâs safe to say it felt cooler outside than it did in! The lady working apologized and explained that the air conditioning had not been working properly for a few days, and that they were in the process of getting it fixed. Neither my wife nor I are typical cold coffee drinkers, but due to the overwhelming heat, we ordered their cold brew with some half and half, and they were sublime. This coffee shop wouldâve received five stars from us if it werenât for the air conditioning issues. I can only assume the intense heat canât be safe for the food, the coffee beans, but especially the patrons and employees of the coffeeshop. The owner should seriously do something before...
Read moreI was completely impressed with this place. When I saw it on my Yelp and pulled up and I was really worried since it is in a church. Boy was I wrong!
The place
They have a really nice lobby with a few couches and tables with a nice atmosphere to chill or do some work. They even have a small stage where I am guessing they bring bands into play. It was very clean.
The coffee
I had a Caramel/Vanilla latte mix and my sister had a Peanut butter latte. I was so impressed with how smooth the latte's where. Most places make them too sweet or not enough. They did a great job of a nice balance of coffee and flavoring. Then to find out a 16 ounce was 3.90!! Starbucks is about 5.25 for the same thing and not even close to as good!!
The Verdict
If you live near by you can save a ton of money getting your latte's here and getting much better coffee I wish I lived near by!!!
Special Note This coffee is a big part of helping the poor people of Rwanda! I love supporting them! Land of a Thousand Hills, recognized a simple and tangible opportunity to make a difference in the reconciliation of the Rwandan people. This realization led Golden to start a coffee company that pays a fair wage to the farmers of Rwanda, helps them with their basic needs, and brings a quality product to coffee lovers.
