Used to love this place. “BEWARE” The food was amazing. Currently disabled and unable to drive to enjoy the food, ambience and terrible service. Ordered through DoorDash the last 15 times. Willing to show receipts to prove it. My favorites been the waffles. My Aunt owns a restaurant back home. Cooks similar but way better food,it comes out hot and fresh. This place serves everything room temperature or cold. It’s all precooked. Anyways, the past 5 times I have ordered the waffles they have come without butter or syrup. So I finally got frustrated and called up and said something. Only to be BIT€HE£ out by the owner who informed me by so rudely interrupting me (hey wait a minute lady IF YOU WANTED SOME BUTTER AND SYRUP THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR IT!) He literally shouted at me and as he proceeded to explain to me of people want the extras they have to speak up and ask for them. Then proceeded to hang up on me as I saw wow wow wow I’m the customer not to mention you’re rude and I don’t deserve to be shouted at. Then he hung up on me only to attempt to call back minutes later. To inform me that I’m in the wrong and customers who want butter and syrup need ask for it and I somehow treated him wrong. All over some condiments which always come as a side for a darn waffle. By the way my order didn’t come with silverware or napkins either. You guys don’t have it together. Poor business model. Your food is slipping and never arrives hot or even warm. I live just minutes away. It’s tragic you decided to harass me after all I wanted was to let you know that you keep forgetting my butter and syrup. So dumb to lose a loyal customer because of your pride. This won’t be my last complaint. No need to respond. Watch out for this guy Jose he has a temper and would probably have hit me if I’d been in front of him. Beware he flies off the handle. Parents do not take your children around this place or this man. He’s scary! He probably has a record. I’ll be looking into and posting ASAP for...
Read moreStopped by this place while in around Rock after seeing the positive reviews. I enjoyed my time here - the owner and his grandchildren were very friendly and it was nice to support a local business.
I got the Prosciutto quiche ($12.75) which I would rate 3/5. While I enjoyed the initial bites, it got very salty towards the later half. I think it could have benefitted from more tomato or less prosciutto to cut the saltiness. (I was very impressed with the amount of prosciutto though!). I was definitely full from this portion.
My friends got the quiche poblano ($11.75) which they enjoyed a lot! They weren't completely full after this though.
Both entrees came with a side of salad (arugula, tomato, other greens).
We also ordered a chicken saltena ($6) because they ran out of beef. This was very understated and delicious!
We also got the Spanish cheesecake and Key Lime pie. I'd rate the cheesecake 4/5 - I think I'm not a fan of that style of cheesecake because it was a bit too crumbly and eggy for me but that's just the style. The Key Lime pie was also 4/5 - tasty and not too sweet but the cream wasn't the best.
While prices were a little high, it's understandable for this small shop in the Austin area. Also just to note, they were running out of a lot of pies while we were there, and didn't have salmon for quiche or beef for the saltena.
They have indoor/outdoor area to eat, and a counter where you can order food to go.
Overall, definitely a place to stop by and try if you're in the area and craving...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at "Papi's Pies," a charming garden restaurant that has quickly become my favorite spot in town. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their quiches. Each bite of the quiche is a harmonious blend of flaky, buttery crust and a rich, creamy filling that bursts with flavor. Whether you choose the classic Lorraine, with its smoky bacon and Parmesan, or the vegetarian Florentine option loaded with fresh, seasonal vegetables, you are in for a treat. My ultimate favorite is the smoked salmon quiche. The attention to detail and the use of high-quality ingredients are evident in every mouthful. Equally impressive are the pies. From the first taste of the golden, crumbly crust to the luscious, fruit-packed fillings, the pies are simply sublime. The apple pie with its perfectly spiced apples, is a nostalgic favorite, while the berry pie offers a delightful mix of tartness and sweetness, each berry bursting with freshness. While small the restaurant operates with a limited staff. Usually the owner and son, their warm and attentive service makes you feel welcome from the...
