Terrible Service – Avoid Ordering Online
I recently visited Leo's Coney Island to pick up an order for my co-worker. Upon arrival, we spent a few minutes watching a young waitress fumble at the register before she disappeared into the back without offering a greeting or acknowledgement. When she finally returned to the register, she casually inquired about our needs. It was clear we were there to pick up an order.
Unfortunately, when we got back, my co-worker realized the order was incorrect. I returned to the restaurant to rectify the mistake, and upon informing the staff member that the order was wrong, she nonchalantly showed the box to the cook and remarked, "Make another Michigan Salad, I gave out the wrong order... AGAIN." Her tone suggested that this was a recurring issue, and to my dismay, she didn't offer an apology for the inconvenience caused.
When the corrected order was brought back, my co-worker found that it contained raisins instead of Michigan cherries, which she is unable to eat. Out of kindness, she didn't inform me of the mix-up to avoid causing further upset, knowing that my efforts had been in vain.
Upon addressing the issue herself, she was told that the dried cherries were substituted with raisins due to a shortage and that if the salad was unsatisfactory, she would need to process her refund online as that was where the original order was placed. Adding to the frustration, when she attempted to request the refund online, she was informed that the request needed to be made directly with the location.
There was no manager on site at the time, and she was advised to wait until 10pm for the manager to come in and contact her. However, the manager never reached out, leaving her to call and speak to someone else the following day, who thankfully was able to process the refund over the phone.
This experience has highlighted a clear lack of accountability for online pick-up orders at this establishment, as well as a young staff that seems to lack fundamental courtesy and attentiveness to customers. I urge the management to recognize that this is not an isolated incident; such service has been a consistent observation at...
Read moreWe tried to patronize this local establishment, but were met by a rude waitress in a non- welcoming environment. We had a few parties coming in after a hockey game. She separated the families throughout the restaurant, which was fine but we had a party of five. She sat the kids first. My husband and I came in a moment behind them because he was slow walking with a broken leg. When we went to go sit with our kids, she rudely told us that us that they were over capacity and we had to wait outside until someone left the establishment. We tried to explain to her that we were all together. She then told us that you could not have more than 6 in a party sit together. We reminded her again and again that there was five of us so we should have been able to sit together, she was still rude and seemed a bit confused by the whole situation. On top of that she was taking cues from a rude customer who was sitting at a table by himself, who kept chiming in and telling her that if we're they were over capacity we had to go outside. He was being adamant about everyone wearing their masks sitting at the table. After about five minutes of arguing with her, she tried to separate my children from myself at different tables on opposite sides of the restaurant and then proceeded to tell us that we had to wear our masks at our table just to make that one customer happy. He was obviously paranoid over covid-19, as he ate each bite and put his mask back up over his face. We were just fed up with the way we were being treated and sure as hell wasn't going to eat bite by bite with my face on my mask like that customer wanted. So we took our table and the children and went up the street to National Coney Island, about 10 minutes later another of our hockey families walked into National CI because they left Leo's for being treated the same way. We were greeted very nicely at NCI by the waitress, sat right down at a table with no problem/no mask at the table, and had a great meal. Leo's missed out on $100 tab and the waitress on a great tip. I will never patronize this place again, I wish I would have read the reviews before...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the worse experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. We went there after the Arts Beats and Eats Flo-Rida concert. There was only one waitress and one girl at the counter for a packed restaurant. We sat down understanding it would take awhile, but after being completely ignored for 45 minutes and watching the waitress take orders from people that literally just walked in the door, while we sat there and never even got a glass of water, was just absolutely was ridiculous. I stood up and asked her politely to please come over and take our orders. She continued to completely ignore our table, never even acknowledging us in any way. This waitress barely looked up from the floor, looking like she hated her job and made no effort at all to take care of the patrons. After several of my friend's just decide to leave after nearly 1 1/2 hours of being ignored, yes 1 1/2 hours, I went to the cashier and ordered a takeout, expressing my disappointment in their service. She promised to make sure we were taken care of right away. NOT! We again sat and watched people that ordered after us get their takeout before us. Again I had to go up and complain. Half of our food was sitting on the counter the entire time and was now cold. We were literally there for over 2 hours and ended up with cold food and a horrible experience. My recommendation is for the owner to fire that waitress, she doesn't want to be there anyway, so you're doing her a favor. I would also recommend making sure you are fully staffed when such a large event is going on in your city, one waitress for a packed restaurant is absurd. I will never go back there again. That place gives Leo's a bad name and reputation. PS, I also watched several other people leave frustrated and overheard other regular patrons that live in the area complaining about their...
