I usually don't review but after our experience tonight I felt obligated. We were in the area at Funtown and looking for a restaurant to grab some dinner with the kids. I found the restaurant (brew pub) on Google maps and after looking at the menu we set off. The parking was a bit different but so was the location, in a good way. The restaurant is part of a repurposed tannery on a small island in between Saco and Biddeford. The inside of the building has been completely redone but done in such a way that it highlights the actual architecture of the building including the huge roof timbers and wood walls. When we entered we were greeted by a very enthusiastic and courteous hostess that seated us. Within a couple of minutes our server Katherine arrived and took the drink orders. The pub offers a wide selection of house brews. I settled on the Bud Lager though I think our waitress could have told me everything about every beer/ale they have. For the meal I settled on the Mac & beer cheese. Then she asked me one of the best questions that someone can ask. Do you want bacon in it? UM HELL YEAH! Others in the party got the ruben sandwich with house cut fries, Maine crab cakes, spinach and artichoke dip, and others. I tried a little bit of everything and overall the food and drinks were AMAZING! Seriously the best food I've had in a long time. I'm seriously going in to a depression just realizing that I live 2 hours north. The food arrived in less than 15 minutes. The Mac and beer cheese with BACON and half of a ruben sandwich I had were to die for! As for Katherine she was the best waitress we could have ever asked for, I couldn't have expected any better if I was at a $500 restaurant. Even the kids loved it and got a great kids meal. It was a pleasure dining at such a great establishment, a true jem. Simply amazing job! Would and will be recommending to everyone I know! Note: We ate inside, they have 2 menus, the outside menu has more seasonal...

Parking situation is a little weird but ample spots. If you’re waiting on others to join you, recommend requesting a table while you wait. At 7pm, we had a 20-25 minute wait. They did a good job at giving us a true estimated wait time & update when our table was ready. They update you via text, so that gives you some flexibility if you didn’t want to wait in their waiting area.

Clam chowder was good. I liked how it was more heavy on potatoes instead of clam. Creamy and served with crackers.

I feel like the Mac n cheese gets a lot of undeserved hype. For a “triple cheese sauce” - I would’ve expected it to be cheesier. Felt dry - definitely needed more cheese. Nothing spectacular about the crunchy topping. The Parmesan wheel on top was different and a nice addition.

Drinks sucked. I ordered a water and a strawberry lemonade. When the waitress came out, I actually thought my drink was the water (pictured with the soup). Didn’t get water until later, had to ask for it 2x throughout the night.

My sister’s drink was forgotten about. Waitress eventually brought it out and took it off the tab. Which bumps this rating from a 2 star to a 3 star review. You don’t see compensation given these days, so when compensation is given - it deserves recognition.

I tasted my friends’ drinks: Spicy Watermelon Margarita: also pale in color, tasted like a Jalepeno in water Raspberry Margarita: tasted like a lime dipped in raspberry

Did not want a second sip of either. The fact that they all sucked, is concerning.

Two others from our table got the lobster roll and fish tacos and they were pleased with their choices!!

Looks like it could be a cute place to gather. Originally planned on meeting another friend here for drinks - will NOT do that in the future. 3 strikes with the cocktails (maybe their beer is better; but sucks for those who are not “beer people.”)

Was...

I've been all over the place - from the neon-lit streets of Tokyo to the quiet corners of Maine's own backyards. But let me tell you, The Run of the Mill in Saco has carved out a special spot in my heart. Here's the deal:

The Grub: Every bite here feels like a little celebration. The food? It's not just good; it's got soul. Think haddock stuffed with crab that melts in your mouth or their daily specials that keep you coming back for more. The Brews: Craft beer lovers, this place is your new church. They brew their own, and let me tell you, it's the real deal. From their Oktoberfest to the Tented Kilt, each beer has a story, and it's a story you want to taste. The Crew: Andy, the man behind the scenes, runs this place with a passion that's infectious. And the wait staff? They're not just serving food; they're part of the experience. They remember your name, your favorite beer, and make you feel like you're at a friend's house. The Vibe: Imagine dining in a place where history meets comfort. That's The Run of the Mill. The outdoor deck by the river? It's like having your own little slice of paradise. Perfect for chilling after a long walk or just soaking in the day. The Heart: This isn't just a restaurant; it's where the community hangs out. It's where you meet your neighbors, share stories, and make memories. It's more than food; it's about feeling like you're part of something bigger.

If you're in Saco or even if you're just passing through, hit up The Run of the Mill. Trust me, it's not just a meal; it's an experience you'll want to have...
