Any true sandwich lover MUST check out deli n company. My first sandwich, the Waldorf chicken salad, was in 2010 and it was exactly the thing I needed. I had come out of a four hour lab working with formaldehyde and so was having trouble getting the smell out of my nose. Despite this, I was already enjoying my sandwich but the chef/owner brought me out some truffle oil to smell and told me it will help to get the chemical smell out, and it really did! Not only was the sandwich amazing, but the chef is also genuinely passionate about food and the people he meets. The second sandwich I had was the Vermonter... The first bite was the kind that instantly makes your mouth water and your mind splits, oscillating between sheer satisfaction from how all the flavors come together in a delicious medley, and that pure basic animal hunger for more even though your fat mouth is still eating. Needless to say, I've been a regular since. And EVERY visit consistently delivers great quality ingredients and flavorful combinations. I literally have dreams about the sandwiches I've eaten here. Unfortunately I moved back home to NYC but I still always come through to Saco because it's that good. The renovation really opened up the space quite beautifully to include more seating. And better yet, the menu has expanded to include dinner and breakfast. I just drove 5 hours from home straight to the deli n company, got their Korean BBQ burrito and smoked pork flat bread, two vermonters for dinner and a blood orange scone and blueberry scone...
Read moreI will give this place another chance. I ordered the chicken ceaser salad wrap. It came with a spinach wrap, that was a surprise. It was huge, filling ratio was 47% lettuce, 47% grated parmesan cheese, and 6% chicken. The chicken was sliced, not chunked and reminded me of deli meat, not very flavorful, and not very plentiful considering it's a deli. The dressing was delicious, I had asked for it on the side to dip. Very difficult to eat, grated cheese kept spilling all over. I took it apart and ate it from the basket. Two friends with me ordered a salad and a sandwich respectively. They were satisfied. $16.99 for my chicken ceaser wrap was pricey for the lack of meat in it. We all got cold sandwich offerings as that was what was on the printed menu provided. After picking up my sandwich at the counter I noticed they also had soups and hot sandwiches. Will try one of those...
Read moreWe visited Saco Island Deli for lunch today and the service and food was exceptional. We had a party of 8 and each person was thoroughly impressed with the freshness, quality, and taste of their sandwiches. The only bummer was that, while making any sandwich into a salad constitutes a gluten free option, they didn't have any gluten free bread (which would have made the Vermonter even more enjoyable!). Also, when I asked if they could make my daughter a grilled cheese they said no. I did find this a bit confusing since they had a panini press and some of the sandwiches come with cheese on them. This could easily have been done. My daughter ended up getting a BLT and enjoyed it, so...
