The food has changed and not for the better… I came here almost 2 years ago and it was all delicious, especially the German potato salad. Came back a week ago and it was all super disappointing. Talked it up to my friend and left embarrassed I took them there. I ordered a sausage platter with one sausage that came on the skinniest weirdest plate I’ve ever seen at a restaurant for this type of dish (especially for something considered an entree). Like I literally have the same dish in my kitchen that my sponge and dish soap sit on. It was so hard to cut the sausage without it falling off the plate. The potato salad was a tiny portion literally three small potato chunks, and just plain potatoes, not the flavorful potato salad I remember. The pickle was a tiny gross sweet one. Two mustards were in the middle of the plate and wish it could have been optional because one was so strong with horseradish it ruined everything it touched. My friend got a sausage platter with two sausages and his potato salad portion was bigger (but still plain potatoes), and he got a normal size dill pickle but we both left hungry and really disappointed at the quality for the high price and lack of flavor. The sausages taste store bought, not the quality I had previously. Please improve this and use normal plates too. And/or charge less since the portions are so tiny. So awkward to eat/cut on those weird skinny things. I don’t think we’ll be back, nothing tastes authentic or like they even...
Read moreIf you want yummy German food, great beer and a relaxed inviting atmosphere this is a MUST VISIT if you're in Sacramento.
We spent the day visiting museums then had lunch here. The moment we walked in the employees were friendly, helpful and kind.
Food & Service: You walk up to the window to order then find a seat and they bring you your food. I was so excited to try the Schnitzel and I wasn't disappointed. I had the Schnitzel with the potatoe salad, sauerkraut & topped with lemon. WOW it was so dam good, squeeze the lemon on & chef's kiss! The potatoe salad was good but different then American style I grow up with but very good, more citrus flavor then tangy. Sauerkraut was ok. We ordered the pretzel with both kind of cheese, our favorite being the homemade Obstza, so dam yummy way better then the other bier cheese. Then we had the Berliner Dog, also very delicious. Beer: We had 2 of the #10. It was very nice to drink. The gentleman taking our order at the window let me taste 2 beers because I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I'm not a beer drinker so this was very helpful.
We spent a total of $53.59
The next time we are in the area we will be back. Also they do fundraisers, the one posted was for SPCA through a dog costume party....
Read moreThe German Bier Garten setup works so well and they run this place like a well oiled machine. The beer is cold, the food is fresh and delicious and they have plenty to choose from. This spot is a great casual hang out spot or even a perfect no stress date location. The long picnic benches make it easy to bring a group or start a conversation with new people and make friends.
This spot does get busy during peak hours, so finding a spot isn't always going to be a breeze, but once you have one you're night is set!
They do have a rewards program you can join and the rewards are actually really great, we've received free/discounted food and drinks before. The bathrooms are usually clean, but there are two and they're for everyone so it just depends who was in there before you. They also have a water station for when you need to hydrate & Corn hole, Jenga and other games for when you feel like starting some competition.
The only down side to this spot is that it is open air and that means they close down when the weather gets bad. Other than that this place is an awesome time and one of our regular...
