Thursday, 4/11/2024 - We ate at Shake Shack for dinner. 1st time here. Address is 1710 R St, Ste 190, Sacramento, CA 95811 (Midtown). Thought we try a different burger place. Parking is limited. But we got parking right away since we came a little early. It's paid parking. So make sure you know your license plate. Upon arrival...
Pros
Cons
Conclusion I liked this little burger place. They have a nice menu of selections. Lots of tables to sit indoor or outdoor. Foods were all good. I liked how the bun on the cheeseburger wasn't just all bread. It was a good blend. There's games to play with your group of people. I liked that you can order yourself at the self-ordering kiosks and take a number or go to the cashier and...
Read moreWe've ordered online for takeout dozens of times at this location without issue and have always received notifications via email and text that our order was ready to be picked up.
Unfortunately, the last time was absolutely off-putting and we will not be returning because of it.
We placed an order online, per usual, and arrived early. Not wanting to be the annoying customer or door dasher who looms over the counter, we sat and waited (assuming the expected notification would let us know when to approach).
After giving it a few minutes beyond the expected pickup time, the notification still never came.
When we went to the counter, we were met by who could only be assumed to be the manager, front running the entire operation. First, they accused us of ordering incorrectly, despite having a receipt and a matching order number on our now cold food sitting directly behind them (seems they had enough of a backlog that some bags got demoted from the heat lamp). Then, they lied and claimed "the system had changed and only kiosk orders receive notifications now". Really? How about just going with "our system is having issues today" if you're looking for a plausible excuse for why you're clearly not managing your ticketing system correctly? It obviously sent you the order and you made it.
Even if they had tossed a hail mary and tried to call out the order name, it might have thrown a bandaid on the situation (though it would be hard to hear with how much they crank up the music).
The inconvenience is one thing, but letting food sit due to mismanagement is just fishing for health...
Read moreFor fast food, this is about the best experience you can hope for all around. Although as far as speed goes, I would actually call it "moderate". Considering it's a burger joint, think diner wait times instead of having your burger handed to you 180 seconds after placing the order.
The burgers and fries are great. Haven't tried everything on the menu, but the meat is quality, and the taste and texture are exceptional even when they're not cooked rare/medium-rare. Ingredients seem fresh and compliment the sandwich well. Buns are toasted and made for a good texture combination providing you don't leave the sandwich long enough for them to get soggy. I'm a French fry fan, and these taters are crispy, not overly salted and fried to a great consistency.
Employees at this location are usually warm and inviting, and during busy periods, the restaurant is often staffed well enough to have folks help you through the self-serve kiosk system where the ordering process happens. Otherwise, the kiosks are user friendly, I believe there are eight of them to prevent too much waiting, and the full menu is on an adjacent wall so finding exactly what you want is simple.
Restaurant is clean and spacious, not loud, and there is Foosball and a small shuffleboard table, although the finish on the shuffleboard is shot so sliding the pucks is almost impossible. Code on the bathroom keeps them clean and in good order, and asking for the code at the counter is a quick and easy experience.
Love this place and have returned a few times since trying it. If you like smash-burgers, you won't be...
