How sweet it is.

A Salt & Straw location in the capital of California. I've been a Salt & Straw fanatic for five years now and have made it my personal goal of visiting every single scoop shop in the country. I've already visited 14 scoop shops, hehe. Finally opening one in the heart of Midtown is just the sweet energy the city needs.

How it works: Choose from Salt & Straw's Classic Flavors list or their Limited Edition Flavors. To note, Limited Edition flavors refresh once a month (usually the first Friday of the month, deemed "Flavor Friday"). Limited Edition Flavors usually coincide with the month, season, or holiday. Classic Flavors are exclusive to the area/state the scoop shop is located and are mixed with local flavors or are a collaborative effort with other small businesses in the area.

Pick how many scoops you want in a fresh waffle cone or a cup. I usually get a "split scoop," which is two kids' scoops.

Toppings can be added such as sprinkles or a spritz of the new Culinary Perfumes. As of September 2022, there are three (edible) Culinary Perfumes: cocoa, citrus, and floral. Perfumes add an extra interesting layer to your ice cream experience.

Pints in both the Classic and Limited Flavors are also available to purchase and if you happened to miss the last month's Limited Edition Flavors, some may be available...

I probably won't go here again for a long time. They have good ice cream and interesting flavors but it didn't matter - I didn't even get a chance to look at the menu bc the employees were rushing me so much. It was so stressful and I had to ask a question about the split scoop vs double scoop and the employees were traumatized because of a basic question. Then the other employee was telling us all to move down to create room for more people. I didn't even have time to look at the menu and evaluate all the cool flavors, because I was being rushed so much. I just got chocolate and vanilla because I didn't know what to order and it wasnt even that good. $10 for overpriced ice cream is okay if you get one of the cool interesting flavors. But why even have those flavors if you aren't going to give people more than 10 seconds to look at the menu. Before I even got done ordering they were just trying to get the line to move down bc people weren't moving fast enough for them. Ugh it was so stressful honestly. Disappointed I splurged on overpriced ice cream and it wasn't...

Our first experience at Salt & Straw was wonderful! Before we even walked through the doors, we were greeted with the magical scent of fresh waffle cones! The flavor options were equally plentiful and delicious. Here you'll find familiar flavors with an elevated presentation. There are also unique flavors that beg you to try them from intrigue alone. I was beyond pleased to find that they were all delicious!

Our lovely server, Oscar, guided us through all the options and allowed us to try as many flavors as our hearts desired without us ever feeling like a burden. If you're anything like me and can't decide on only one flavor, they offer a split option that allows two flavors for the size of one scoop!

Every touch felt intentional, even down to the adorably dainty metal spoons that the samples are served upon. It was a fantastic first trip, everyone was wonderfully kind, and we will be sure to return in the future!...
