A moderately large sized, quiet, peaceful park to visit. It's a nice park to have pic-nics in as well as wedding or celebration ceremonies. It can also be a good park to jog in or around for exercise. But be careful, if you like oranges, to which this park has a lot of orange trees in it, DON'T EVER pick any of the oranges of the trees because it's a serious legal violation if someone gets caught ! There either still is or was signs posted somewhere in that park telling people not to pick any oranges or fruits off any of the trees and the violation consequences of doing so as far as the law.
Otherwise this park is my favorite park to visit here in the downtown area here in Sacramento, CA. There's been quite a few benches that have been removed from this park, so this park has a lot less places for people to sit down and relax in than it did before a long time ago. But it still has plenty of space for people to sit down in on the grass areas as well as in the memorial area of the park, to which still has plenty of benches for people to sit down and relax in the last time I checked, just the day before I posted this rating
Overall, out of between 1 star to 5 stars, with 1 star being the worst or least quality rating, and 5 stars being the best quality rating, I'd give this park 4 out of 5 stars. It used to be better a long time ago before a bunch of benches got taken out, to which I would have given a 4.5 star(s) rating, but I believe to the best of my knowledge the city of Sacramento or whoever is in charge of making alterations or changes to the public infrastructure, as far as the parks are concerned, or whoever's in charge is trying to keep homeless people from "camping out" in there during the night time. It's still my favorite park to visit here in downtown...

Capitol Park is like a botanical 'Where's Waldo?' but for trees, flowers, and plants. Walking around this park is a crash course in botany, without the homework. Everywhere you look, there's a new leafy friend, and the best part? They're all labeled – it's like nature's version of a name tag meet-and-greet.
This park isn't just cool; it's like a living, breathing plant encyclopedia. You can stroll around, soaking in the beauty and walk away a bit smarter about the green world. The variety of vegetation is impressive – it's like Mother Nature decided to show off her portfolio.
In summary, if you’re into plants, or just want to walk around a place that’s both beautiful and educational, Capitol Park is your spot. It’s a peaceful escape in the heart of Sacramento, where every tree and flower seems eager to tell its story. Just don’t forget to say hello to each one – it’s...
Read moreThe grounds around the State Capital are a wondrous variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers to enjoy. You can show up at the State Capital Park any day or time you wish, although I highly recommend only doing it during the day due to possible homeless issues.I did see one homeless sleeping under a tree part way through the walk of the park and that was it during mid day. Have a relaxing walk through the forest as it were, because this is a forest of Greatness. There are trees from all over the world here, and some of them look quite old, judging by their splendor. The ample shade that the trees provide gives a break from the heat. This is actually a nice place to have a picnic, and we saw one group doing just that.Walk over to the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament before or after the park, and you have yourself the makings...
