I have been around this world for over 58 years now. Over half of those years I have been a vegetarian. Most of those years were from the early 1990’s, into the 2000’s to the present. I may have jumped ship for very short periods where the mind wanted chicken, or being pescatarian. I haven’t eaten red meat for almost 30 years. Why do I think this is important? I think because I have seen plant based eating for a lot longer than the average person I feel. I find that dining out has become a field of land mines where the younger generation seems to think everything is “amazing “. Being positive on social media gets more likes. It feels like every new restaurant needs some form of gimmick to exist. Fusion this and that, Instagramable walls. I come from the old school and just look for and enjoy well prepared and delicious food without fluff or pretension. I have had some of my most memorable meals in the dingiest places or sitting on a stool on a street corner. Fast forward to the point of this review. In addition to my old persons gripes about the younger folks, I have become more jaded and reluctant to explore new restaurants. The cost of eating out has gotten serious much different way back when it didn’t seem like everyone was charging an arm and a leg for food. Village of Om opened sometime in December 2024 I believe. It is literally a half a block from my home. I have become discouraged driving 30 miles to try something and being let down, so I have now focused on looking for dining options within walking distance of my Midtown Neighborhood. I have now been to Village of Om twice and both times I’ve been rewarded with incredible meals. The care, commitment, and attention to detail have been clear in each of my visits. Down to the prep work of the cut of the vegetables and aromatics, and the time which ingredients are prepared is indicative of someone who takes true pride in their cooking. I’ve had so many disappointing meals in my past 3 years in this area and after two meals here has reinvigorated my faith in eating out again. I have tried their Pho and the Rice Noodle salad and both were next level. Flavorful but not due to being overly salty or with unhealthy ingredients. To create flavorful and palatable plant based food is no easy task and Village of Om has so far really hit it out of the park. Service has always been very attentive without being intrusive, something which is a real rare thing these days. They have an interesting and extensive menu that despite how much I want to eat the two dishes I have already had again, there are still over 6 other dishes I want to try. What an amazing place which I feel fortunate to be so close to.

Switching to a mostly vegan and vegetarian diet. My husband and I stumbled across this gem of a restaurant in downtown sacramento. A small but delicious menu all vegan and vegetarian based even vegan sushi. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but boy was I shocked and satisfied with what was placed in front of me. We enjoyed a delicious burmese chopped tea leaf salad, which was recommended to us by our lovely server. This salad blew both of our minds and made us wish.We had ordered one for each of us. Our server brought it to the table and explain the ingredients while tossing the salad in front of us an unexpected impressive addition to the service. This salad is on the spicy side but in the best way possible. Our second course was an amazing panko trumpet banh mi sandwich. An impeccably made sandwich with spicy mayo and pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and I never knew a deep fried mushroom could taste that good. We just kept saying, we want to try more off this menu, we cannot wait to come back. One of those places that serves healthy. Good for you food that doesn't have that healthy good for you food taste. It truly tasted high-end restaurant quality. The prices are not crazy. And we look forward to going back very soon. 2nd visit was even better than the first. We of course had the Burmese salad again but followed it with a wonderful smoked sushi roll, and Lions Mane with garlic butter finished tableside. My husband enjoyed the old fashioned with a smoked finish at the table. Also got to meet the owner Andy who was very kind and chatted with us for a bit. We also got to sample the mushroom crudo which was excellent. Every dish served here is beyond tasty. The service is also top notch and beautiful presentation on every dish. Dont let the fact that it is plant based trick you into thinking this might be a bland vegetarian place it is quite the opposite. One of the best dining experiences we have had and we look forward to coming back again.

I absolutely love this place! From the moment you walk in, the beautiful and clean environment creates such a welcoming vibe. My first visit was a little over a week ago, and the experience was so good that I found myself reminiscing and daydreaming about coming back—and I finally did yesterday! As a Vegan, I’m thrilled to have found a spot like this. The food is soooo delicious that this place is officially my go-to. Trust me, you have to stop in and give it a try! The service is equally amazing. I’ve had OC as my server both times, and he’s fantastic—attentive, friendly, and professional. It’s also refreshing to see the teamwork among the staff; everyone seems to help each other out, which is a great dynamic. The owner is wonderful as well. He personally checks in to ensure everything is up to your expectations, and during my last visit, he even gave me something to try as a kind gesture since my food took a bit longer. Overall, this place has exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re looking for incredible food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is it!

I recently had an incredible experience at this amazing restaurant, and I am thrilled to have discovered it. The staff was attentive and exceptionally helpful in guiding us through the menu for our first visit. Their recommendations were spot-on, and we relished every bite of our meal. The presentation of the food was so impeccable that I regretted not capturing any photos; however, the numerous reviews with stunning images inspired us to visit in the first place.

The flavors were also exceptional. Despite my usual reluctance to dine out at vegan establishments, this restaurant stands out as one of the few I would return to, simply because everything was perfect. The staff ensured that we enjoyed our meal and had everything we needed. While I regret not getting the gentleman's name who assisted us, he was knowledgeable about the sushi preparation and the thoughtful design of the rolls, which distinguishes them from other vegan sushi options I have tried.

I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this place is. The atmosphere is beautiful and serene, with lovely art, lighting, and seating that create a perfect dining environment. I am grateful to have enjoyed this experience early on and am pleased to contribute a positive review. I have been vegan for the past ten years, and the quality of their ingredients is unparalleled. I appreciate that everything we ordered featured real food ingredients rather than processed substitutes.

I am excited to have found this restaurant, which has quickly become a new favorite of mine. It is an excellent choice for a delightful meal when we are out on the town. I look forward to trying everything on their menu.

Until now, I had not identified a favorite restaurant, but Village of Om has certainly earned that distinction. Thank you for existing! As a vegan, it can be challenging to dine out—typically, I prepare meals at home 90% of the time—so I am thrilled to have found a place where I feel safe and truly enjoy the food. I am in love with this restaurant. Thank you, thank...
