My doctor put me on a restrictive diet for an auto immune issue, so I haven't had refined sugar. I'd been planning to visit this place for weeks, excited to indulge my aching sweet tooth. For $12.50, I thought I'd get something like one of the brilliantly colored, overflowing examples in the reviews and on the website. Maybe those are just created for ads or people add a lot of additonal toppings, but what I received was a lot of acai and very little fruit, like five slim banana slices and seven thin strawberry slices with maybe eight blueberries on top. You get two fruits and two other additions when you choose to create your own bowl (my diet won't allow any of the precreated options, though they look great). I wanted to add a fruit and one additional other topping. The sign on the case I was referred to reference for my choices said they would be $0.85 extra, each, but the clerk said they were $1 each. When I asked for her to verify the sign she said her screen displayed $1 and she couldn't change it. I was so excited about this treat, I agreed to the higher price. This was also before the bowl was made, which ended up looking sad with almost no fruit for an additional $2, which was supposed to be an additional $1.70. Thirty cents isn't a lot, but the principle of asking me to choose from a sign that displayed inaccurate information and then not honoring that information isn't good customer service. The treat did taste excellent, but I will not be back. Sad because this place is so highly rated. I wanted to try a poke bowl. Maybe I just got an inexperienced clerk. She tried to be nice, but didn't know how to handle...
Read moreI was super excited to see that they were open in downtown Safety Harbor and immediately I had a craving for an açai bowl!
What I wasn’t expecting was the wide range of bowls, flavors, and smoothies.
My mother-in-law ordered a pitaya (dragon fruit) bowl with her desired toppings. It was colorful and yummy.
I actually decided on the average Joe smoothie instead of a açai bowl because I love coffee. The smoothie was more peanut butter and banana flavor with a background flavor of coffee but still delicious. We also ordered a Barracuda which was good, heavy on the coconut taste. Hubs had the Apple Pie in a bowl and liked that.
The kids love the bright colors in the bowls and as a parent I love that there is no added sugars, just the fruits, seeds and nuts.
Also, the space is so bright and clean. I love food places like that, gives me more confidence in the food and staff.
The ladies working that day were also very sweet, patient and helpful. We will definitely come back, especially since the kids are begging to get a pink bowl.

Read moreOk I just stopped in to try out one of the newer eating spots in Safety Harbor and I really love it. I wanted to try so many things but it was already later in the evening so I went with the ahi tuna poke bowl. Ok let’s first start with yumminess and then we talk presentation. The bowl is very colorful and freshly appetizing. If I can get away with saying that. Also, I like the decor and dining setup. It’s a small space but it has a nice vibe. Back to the ahi tuna bowl. It was fresh and you get a nice serving. I couldn’t stop making sounds like the kind you make when something is so tasty and delicious. Ask for sauce on the side. I really liked the service and friendliness of the counter staff and the owner too. She came out and we talked for a minute. I’m going back tomorrow because I absolutely have to try the Outrigger and the Average Joe smoothies. And the Spirulina bowl too. There’s a lot to choose from and no dairy and lots of natural ingredients. The prices are comprable to any other fresh healthy food establishments. Worth every penny. This new spot Kaia Bowls in Safety Harbor is right across the street from the Spa Resort walking distance from the library. Grab a bowl or a smoothie and then walk to the SH Marina....
