there should be a "0" rating !! or minus! I feel compelled to write about my experience at Twist and Shout dinner knowing full well that they know who I am and that I have been a customer there for years and have finally said something about my experience in as much a way as possible not to do a make wrong or be critical but now, after numerous times of being unsatisfied, I have decided not to go back there because of the last conversation I had with one of the owners.. I have always sat at the bar which is close to the open kitchen and usually go in there at least almost every saturday for the same breakfast. my experience is that it has taken many months for them to "get it right" when I ask for a fairly simple way to make my breakfast.. I dont like omelettes that the eggs are BROWN and the toast is undertoasted and the potatoes are not cooked enough. There is a saturday cook there that is basically the culprit, and my observation is that he is pretty untight.. the last visit, I AGAIN had to send back my omelette because of what I said and he, the cook gave me a look because I was sitting there is front of him.. The omelette was done over and it came back half the size of the original and so did the potatoes... I decided to eat it and not say anything but I did call.. ALong with this, I have asked the owner if that cook would be willing to NOT throw the clean plates down on the rack because some of us veterans have PTSD and that type of a noise and loud clashing can make us jump and I have brought up that issue with the owner in the past with apologies because it should not be a big deal, but it is startling... ITs like eating in a barn and granted it is a "dinner" but it is also a place where people are served and WE pay good money for our meals.. I called and asked if it was a good time to talk and the gal said that she can speak, so I proceeded to tell her about my experience but I think that she heard something that was not easy to hear and then she proceeded to say that " I have alot of customers here now and that she could not talk anymore and did not offer to continue the conversation and also did not at all give me the impression that she understood and in fact was defensive and making excuses for my experience... I don't know about you folks, but being a NAM vet, I am quite sensitive to being disrespected when I talk and specially being cut off and made to think that I dont matter with what I say and where I am coming from. I dont know that there is enough intelligence in listening with the person that I spoke with.. I was made wrong and was told that the next time I come in, the cook will know to basically tip toe around the kitchen area...SARCASTIClly spoken!!!! WELL! DO NOT worry people... No reason to TIP TOE THROUGH the tulips for me in the future... bye.... bye.... now ps.... If I get a call with an apology, I will be happy to talk about it...and maybe, just. maybe, I will give them...
Read moreMy wife and I had been looking for a place to take good friends (handicapped also)for burgers and good food . We heard the longhorn was good in Green Valley. Last Monday we had gone to check it out , so I got a dozen wings and the wife ordered the burger. When my wings came they were toast ,dry and black. I told Sarah and she informed me that’s how they come? Well she had Danny cook some others for me and they were fine.( but nothing to write home about) My wife’s burger moo-ed when she bit into it but ate it anyways. We thought well, we will give them another try since I knew Sarah when she was at the 19hole . She was great then! So today we took our good friends and thought we would have a better experience what the heck why not? Boy was that a mistake! We arrived sat on the deck outside at a dirty table . Sarah quickly wiped it off and took our order for a couple beers ( remember it is Monday and they are $4 dollars.( this will matter later in the story). I ask her to bring me a beer when she returns outside. 15 minutes go by so I call the restaurant and she answers ,(Longhorn) I say hey Sarah could you bring us a beer and our friend were there now . We hang up the phone and she comes out and says”hey how about I just bring you a pitcher? ( it is easier for her , not great for us due to we like cold beer imagine that.) Then other people sit down 4 of them and they end up getting there food before us? WTF!!! Jan also asked for a spoon to eat her food which never comes she gets the chicken and turkey sliders (so dry I was embarrassed after talking this place and Sarah up! She said can I get you something and I replied yes our food got there before 4 and now it’s after 4:35! She the comes out with deep fried chips and dip and drops them on my friends wife Jan (who is in a wheelchair!) Nice job there…next she comes back out with the other people’s food !very disappointing and long story shorter some horrible potato wedges my wife tried to send back as soon as the got delivered. Again oh” that’s how they come” so we get though with the meal finally . Here comes the bill $98.21 with a charge for the pitcher (that only has 3 and 1/2 beers for $24.00 on $4.00 beer night! Should have been $12 or $14.00 at the most.Again WTF! I waited and did not want to let the other customers hear me complain so up by the door I told her of the experience and she replied “she’s really busy and feels bad. And she should! We and our friends will not make that mistake again! She also said then I owe you a credit? Unfortunately that would mean we would have to come back and THATS NOT HAPPENING EVER! Thanks for the warm beer and horrible service and literally the worst experience we ever had at a restaurant! Good luck to you Sir! The burgers were good though, Danny cooked them right. But still not worth the time...
Read moreWhen BBQ is sauce only... Mixed experience at best. Bottom Line: No pride in ownership. Ordered a hamburger (self) and pulled pork sandwich with a cole slaw side. Good: Server was friendly and attentive - gets an A for job. Cook: The hamburger was cooked as ordered. So a thumb up on that one. Now the issues: --The BBQ sauces at the tables have expiration dates on them, which I am happy to report as a positive. The down side is that 3 of the 4 sauces had expired dates. --The requested lime for the drink was either cut from a old lime or cut at least two days ago as it was shriveled and turning brown. (This comes from someone who put themself through 4 years of college tending bar.) --The cole slaw is mostly a cumin flavored cabbage. The cabbage was going south, making the side dish inedible, but the overwhelming industrial grade cumin flavor is strange. If a quality cumin would have been used, then maybe I could accept the weird flavor. But add cabbage which is starting to rot and it's just bad. --When the meal was presented, the first thing my table mate did was use a paper towel (Provided as napkins at the table on a paper towel stand.) to wipe the excess oil from the top of the sandwich roll. --The biggest disappointment is that the meat was not smoked. So here the BBQ is when one adds a sauce to the meat. Does this mean that I could have gotten a TexMex plate by adding a bit of cole slaw and ketchup to a bit of pulled pork or beef? Anyway.. you get a feel for the poor quality of food served. Hamburger wise, stick to Culver's for a better burger at a lower cost as the burger had no BBQ flavor and was just cooked on a flat-top. Overall - Tried out the new BBQ place in town and will not...
