Cute interior and the service is very friendly, but there are some bumps and the food is hit or miss.
There was plenty of seating when we arrived and we chose to take a table in the "back". I guess the front is the enclosed patio area, then there are some booths along a corridor toward the back section.
Seating was tight and uncomfortable. There is a large condiment tray on every table full of sauces and seasonings which is cool at first until the food starts arriving and you realize there is no place to put it.
Although the hostess explained the seating options and we told her we were heading to the back, we could not get a server to come over until I asked someone who it was. Once assigned, our server was very friendly and personable, but we had to wait quite a while. I don't have a problem waiting once we're greeted so we know who is taking care of us, but this was a concern. In the entire back room, there was only one other table seated besides ours. Their server went three times to their table without even batting an eye at us, so I finally had to yell out to get his attention. After that, our server came and apologized.
We ordered the conch fritters and the corn cakes for appetizers. The conch fritters were mostly dough with little flavor, although the dipping sauce was okay. I guess that is why they have so many condiments available.
The corn cakes are amazing, a very unique item that was very enjoyable. they come with cheese, avocado, and other goodies on top and are quite yummy.
Entrees were sort of blah. My daughter's tuna wrap "with a little teriyaki" came drenched in it, ruining the delicate taste of the tuna. Shrimp and tuna tacos were okay, not great, not terrible. My mahi mahi was a bit dry, but the slaw and yucca fries I ordered as sides were fantastic.
Overall, some good, some bad. Maybe we...
Read moreI’m sorry. I hate to bash a restaurant and I am NOT a food snob. The food was not simply subpar, it was dangerously bad. I felt like I was in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. It was so bad tasting that I was concerned I was going to get sick. We couldn’t finish our food, nor did I send it back (like it should have). the food was so disgusting that I am sure anything else from the menu would be just as bad. we ordered their “famous corn cakes”. The combination of flavors was just awful. the waitress was so aggressive in selling us that and other dishes we thought we would go ahead and give it a try. She was annoying too, pushing all these different dishes on us, insisting it’s the best restaurant on A1A and all this other hype. The entrees were horrible as well. the plating was ugly, sloppy (as if done by a little kid), the food itself was not fresh. For example, the tomatoes on our sandwiches were so pale and sickly looking they were a faded red color. the same goes for the other ingredients, such as the bread, lettuce, and sides. It was so bad I was furious! If you think I am being mean, I am not. If you open your place for business and charge good money for food it is incumbent on you and to deliver food that is safe, tasteful, and high quality. At least make it decent. This was the polar opposite. Really awful experience at Mango Mangos. They are out of their mind if they think it’s Caribbean cooking. Nothing about this place is Caribbean. It’s insulting and criminal to charge good money for what...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. How unprofessional our waitress Maya was today. We always make sure we stop at Mango's when we're in the area and today was no exception. HOWEVER, I ordered sweet plantains as I always do and when they came out they were CHARCOAL burned. Although the waitress knew I bragged about them when I sat down, she said they were always like that. WHAT? I'm Cuban and we wouldn't be caught dead serving them burned like that. I complained and she just turned about and never came back to say they were going to do them again or an apology. When I even looked at their website images and no where can the charcoal burned ones be found. They were horrible. I understand that things happen, HOWEVER
