This location became a HUGE disappointment on my 2nd visit. I ordered the breakfast special with 2 eggs over easy, sausage patties, extra crispy shredded hash browns, and french toast. I ate my french toast with real butter first. It was decent. Then I tried to eat the eggs atop my hash browns. The eggs were actually overcooked to over medium. Took the bite of eggs with hash browns & immediately noticed a burnt old oil taste. I tried a bite from a different area of hash browns & got the same taste. Ugh!
As a former chef of 20+ years, I know what old, burned oil tastes like. And what sautéed foods on improperly-cleaned griddles/equipment taste like. But I gave the benefit of the doubt and asked for a whole fresh plate of the same order.
Again, the eggs were slightly overcooked. And the hash browns were not only not extra crispy, they were undercooked. I put the eggs on the hash browns & took that first bite. Again, UGH! They were as bad as the first plate. Stale, burned oil taste throughout.
I asked for a manager & one came right over. Just then, I saw this scraggly, hungover-looking man walk out of the kitchen. Then the manager approached my table. I explained the problem, and she graciously removed the item from my bill.
But, she made no action to resolve the ACTUAL problem of poorly cleaned equipment, old stale oil(s), and poor cooking quality. This lack of action, combined with the scraggly questionable guy who walked out of the kitchen, had me trying to contact the local restaurant inspection department. That process is a fat bureaucracy!
So, I am writing this review in the hopes that owners see it and FIX the issues, including removing the outdated false advertising for selling Apple Dumplings. Or better yet, make some in house...it's not that darn difficult!
Otherwise, there is a 2nd location in Kissimmee. Things have always...
Read moreBeen to this diner several times and had pretty good food until today. As we were seated the waitress stated they were out of hamburgers. Apparently the chef opened the box of patties as they were being delivered and discovered they were thawed and now ineditible. Kudos for catching that!!
The waitress stated the chicken sandwich was really good so my wife and M-in-L both ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. I ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes, fried okra and garlic toast.
Meals were served in no time and this is where it all fell apart. I turned over my garlic toast to discover the other side was black as charcoal. Both my wife and M-in-L's chicken was burnt on the outside and when they cut into the chicken breast it was raw on the inside.
Got the attention of our waitress and explained the problems with the burnt and undercooked items. She was extremely apologetic. She had the chef remake the garlic toast and offered to remake the chicken sandwiches but my wife and M-in-L decided on a different entree. It was brought out quickly with no further issues.
She did place a discount on the total bill which I was appreciative.
Chef needs to pay closer attention to items, especially chicken, to ensure they are cooked properly. And if you burn a piece of toast, don't place the burned side down on the plate and try to serve it, just make a...
Read moreIt's difficult to be negative because you can see the love and hard work from staff and recurrent customers, but being my first time, I don't think I'd be back.
I'm very sensitive to smells, and as we entered, it was an odd one, but we waited a few minutes to be acknowledged. It was busy and we were told to sit where we liked. The decor is fun, western, and we were excited that they offer breakfast all day, thinking we would be able to come back with the family.
Dana took our orders and was quick to bring our meal and checked on us a few times, which we appreciate.
It was nice to see the majority of the staff was female, and I loved their interaction with customers.
I didn't like the food, at all, the coffee was watery, the home fries were greasy, and I couldn't find flavor in my husband's gravy and my waffles, although were better than Ihop and tasted like Mickey's waffles, had an aftertaste, like burnt or bitter I even tried to wash off the taste with orange juice.
I'm just sad and disappointed. I was looking forward to trying this place, but I'm left with the impression that Rodeo Diner...
