Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Saint George

This place is hit or miss. We rarely have an issue with the food, If there’s an issue it’s generally the service that’s the issue here. We’ve let so many things go over the years, just chalked them up to “bad day, maybe we came just after the rush”, or “probably short staffed” or “maybe they’re new, at least they tried” but last night (a Friday night) may have been the final straw.

We arrived at about 930, We uncomfortably stood at the host stand while every server in the place walked by us without greeting us. Finally we got seated at the bar, only to sit there for 15 minutes without being approached. After ordering we were told “I only have one roll of silverware left so you guys will have to share it”. We laughed, said we’d eat with our hands, but then it was clear she was dead serious and not in a good mood. Our drinks were good, though they sat empty most of the meal. The food was tasty though the bartender never asked, and we were able to get more silverware. We were just so confused about how we were treated by who we could tell was a very competent bartender.

Then when we got the check it hit me. There was a late night promotion for half off appetizers that we weren’t aware of. I immediately felt that she profiled us as people who only came because it was all half off, hence the attitude and poor service. That’s a shame. We came late on a Friday because we both work stressful jobs all week and wanted to unwind. Not to be profiled. It’s really a shame. My dining experience at Applebee's was nothing short of fantastic, largely thanks to Tonia, who provided exceptional service throughout our visit. From the moment we walked in, Tonia greeted us warmly and promptly seated us, making us feel instantly welcome. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she effortlessly guided us through the various options, ensuring we made the perfect choices for our meal.

Throughout the evening, Tonia was attentive without being intrusive, always there when we needed her but giving us space to enjoy our meal and conversations. Her recommendations were spot-on; every dish she suggested was delicious, proving she not only knows the menu but truly cares about her customers' dining experience.

What stood out the most was Tonia's genuine kindness and dedication to making sure we had a great time. She went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and checked in regularly to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Her positive attitude and professionalism elevated our evening, turning a regular dinner into a memorable outing.

In addition to her outstanding service skills, Tonia's efficiency and ability to manage multiple tables seamlessly were impressive. Despite the restaurant being busy, she never missed a beat and treated every guest with the same level of care and attention.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Got there and were sat and we were ordering our meals which were the fiesta lime chicken we told Aubrey our server that we couldn't have a thing fried or that had gluten she acted put out that we told her this. I have celiacs and my wife has a shellfish allergy thus why we ordered how we ordered. Our meals came out and have gluten containing ingredients and ingredients that were fried. We told our server this and she threw a fit and instead of asking us what we wanted to do she took our food back came back with an attitude and said they are remaking them without those ingredients. I had had enough of the attitude so I asked another server if they could get me a manager. The manager came out and I explained the situation while doing so our server came out and hovered over the manager to listen to what was said well she didn't like what was said and again showed her lovely crappy attitude. We told the manager that we didn't feel safe eating there now and she then got attitude and told us it was our fault that they were having problems. The server came back and threw our check on the table and again showed us her crappy attitude we did eat some of the very small side salads and were charged for them. We have been coming to this particular applebee's for many years and things were great and sadly things have gone to total crap. We will never eat here again.
