My husband and I traveled up here specifically for pasties. Lehto’s didn’t disappoint! They’ve been making them since 1947 and have kept the recipe the same. This is their new location and we made it there with 5 minutes to spare before closing. The pasties are packed with beef, potato, rutabaga along with simple seasonings. The Pasties are light and flaky and non-greasy. The pasties from here are delicious and not all pastry dough as you can see from my picture. Definitely the place to go if you want an authentic quality pastie! Tried the chicken pastie and that is delicious too. I’m partial to the beef ones though as that’s what I remember as a kid coming up here. You can’t go wrong either way...

Pasties - the signature food of the UP - are hit and miss; they're sometimes good, sometimes great, too often eh or worse. However, we found a really tasty place that specializes in pasties - beef, chicken, or vegie - and we can get them hot, cold or frozen - I assume they can be shipped - and I am not kidding, these are really tasty. I'd say I prefer the beef and that's coming from someone who isn't particularly much of a fan of most beef - but, dang, that one's really good, followed closely by the chicken, then - for me at least - the vegie. None bad, just my preference. If you're ever in St Ignace - or even over in Mackinaw City - the trip over the bridge for these is definitely a...

My wife and I traveled here over the weekend just to try these. It was so worth it. They do have a very simple menu, with only a handful of items, but what they have tastes really good! The service was great and the food was great. The crust of the pastie is perfect, and I loved the filling. YOU MUST GET THE GRAVY. We took 2 bites without gravy, remembered to go grab some, then once we dipped into that delicious, hot brown stuff, there was no going back. It was delicious! One pastie filled us up. A hungry person could easily eat one themselves though. We would certainly go back again someday! Wish we...

My ancestors were tin miners in Cornwall, immigrated to the Michigan copper mines in the mid 1800s & pasties were a common work food. In modern times my Mom made pasties in remembrance of her father & grandfather. While visiting Mackinac Island we asked the local's favorite pastie shop & we're directed to the Lehto shop near the Shepler's dock. The gentleman, owner I believe, was very attentive & recommended the original beef pastie with gravy. It was delicious, very filling & brought back fond memories.
