We Were Not Impressed With Our Experiences!!!! We Came Ready To Have A Good Time And Was Disappointed!!! This was my first time at Pimento Kitchen downtown Saint Paul Location. We had a party of 17 guests. We called in advance to reserve our seating arrangement. We were told that the restaurant would serve food until 10pm then the DJ would start at 10pm and play until closing. My guest and I arrived at 8pm for dinner and when we arrived they did not have enough food to feed my guest. We were told that they switched vendors and there were no more options for hot food except beef patties. We then order a round watered down rum punch that were served in tiny plastic cups. We switched to the jamaican margaritas that were also watered down with a $12 per drink price. We were there to celebrate my niece birthday so we wanted to make the best of our time there so we switched to buy tiny shots of liquor. We brought two rounds of drinks and when we attempted to buy the third round they had ran out of alcohol. The bartender was rude to us and the manager had to intervene and apologize. We decided we had enough and took our party to another...
Read moreAttempted going into Pimento for a drink and we were frisked worse than TSA upon entry. Security checked all of our pockets, patted us down under the arms and all the way down our legs. They treated us like criminals. After the frisking we were told there was a $5 cover, which made no sense considering there were about six people in the entire place and none of them were dancing. You probably shouldn’t bother with a cover charge if your restaurant is empty - why would someone pay if they can see that nobody is having fun inside?
We left immediately once hearing about the cover charge. We ended up across the street at Amsterdam Bar and paid their $25 cover, had a great night and did not get padded down/violated by their security team.
Totally bizarre experience at Pimento - we will never attempt to give them business again. Sketchy place where they are expecting criminal...
Read moreWe ordered one jerk chicken plate and one curry goat plate....they were both flavorful but my curry goat was 97% bones and cartilage! Literally a whole plate of bones with no meat for $22...I ended up just having to mix the remaining sauce from the curry goat into the rice and settle for that. The cabbage was uncooked, like raw cabbage on top of entire plate, do they not cook their cabbage??? I honestly just threw the rest of my plate away, was super disappointed that I drove from Hudson to downtown stp and spent $50 all together for this sorry, dry bucket of bones they called a plate If you're looking for good authentic Jamaican food I would not recommend going here, this felt like a white-washed MN attempt at Jamaican food....you'd have better luck going to one of the spots on rice street or...
