This is definitely one of the better restaraunts to eat in the area in our limited experience. Drinks were definitelt top noych, very tasty and worth the cost, Pricey overall, but for the most part good and may be better than what resorts offer (have only stayed in this area once for close to $300/night room with HORRIFIC on-site one time dining experience that deterred even trying any other onsite resorts based on experience and locals recommendations). We felt it important to recognize locals' advisement. My husband's steak dish special was perfectly cooked excluding his one side shrimp (apsaragus perfect); they were clearly upon first view (curled up tight) very much overcooked. I tried one in good faith - very very well seasoned, just over cooked like rubber. The smoked Mahi fish dish dip was AMAZING, don't sleep on that if you're interested. My meal was surprisingly tasty despite more seafood execution failure. I ordered their seafood special, think frutti di mare with pasta replaced by curry. I was relutanct to order curry anything, but our AMAZING bartender Josh assured me it wasn't your typcial curry and he as was right! My shrimp was over cooked, one clam shell lacked an actual clam (yes I dregded the sauce hunting for it) and biggest offender for seafood - I had an unopened mussel actually served on my plate. This plate should not have left the kitchen, especially given the prices. Was't even a busy night for them at the time, we were early for dinner. Either way, unopened mussel shells are cooking 101 not to serve. Despite the poor execution of cooking seafood, the curry sauce is something you want to drink off the plate. Both our meals came paired with some seruiosly amazing rice! One of chefs did come around post serving soliciting quality - I honesly didn't have the heart to share my review because I don't know who/which chef prepared my meal and I'm also passive aggressive for what they might send you back.

Overall we had a really great experience! Was pleasantly surprised as I use to frequent the previous establishment quite a bit. Vibe: HUGE improvement over the former. Lots of hammocks. Aesthetically very pleasing. Some great IG worthy spots to take some pictures. Not a direct view of the sunset (if you’re sitting on the sand/hammock) but a quick walk around the dune and you have a great view. Food: outside beach bar area is working food out of a food truck so limited menu (in my opinion) with the basics. Inside restaurant was our choice for restaurant after sunset and it was BOMB. Was really surprised with our main course which we thought would be just MEH for Chicken Fettuccine but it was superb! Presentation was great too. Fish dip was local but just served with some bland bagged tortilla chips. Waitress did tell us that the menu would be changing next week so we’re excited to go back and take a look. Drinks: YESSS! They had a great unique drink menu and everything we had was good and strong. Outside bar was just a pina colada and top shelf Long Island. Inside, I had a Socialite followed by a Roasted Marshmallow Martini for dessert. ONLY DOWNSIDE was parking. We went during the week so there was no attendant to help us navigate our large SUV having a parking spot. 90% of the lot was for compact cars and the rest of the spaces were either taken or they were reserved spots for various things like Hilton Status or Check In. Asked the lady inside if we could park thru the gates on the hotel side and she said that was only for guests. PLENTY of parking back there as hotel was not at capacity.

Parking at coconut Charlie’s has always been a problem. To correct that issue they starting using a pay and park solution. This would be fine if it actually worked the way it is supposedly set up. There is a QR code to scan and the restaurant validates it. If you are dining at the restaurant, your charges for parking are dismissed. We went through this process, scanned a QR code at the bar and was told by the bartender and a management team member that we were all set. Four weeks later we receive a violation notice from a company called revpass. It stated we parked without paying and that we were to send them $96.30 if we did not pay by a certain date the amount would be $125. We ate dinner and had wine and paid coconut Charles over $160. And now are being threatened to have our vehicle towed or further legal consequences. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! We liked Coconut Charlie’s but we will never go back. With so many amazing restaurants in the St Pete area there is no reason to go through this hassle again.

Though both the beachside and indoor restaurant share the same name and photos online, upon arriving the front desk makes it very clear they’re run separately and don’t coordinate. Be warned: they only partially validate parking for the first 2hrs—$35/hr otherwise—so don’t overstay your welcome.

We were on time for our reservation and upon arriving encouraged to sit beachside as we were close to sun setting time and it was off season (not that busy). We said we'd consider as it was FCFS (no reservtions) and walked ourselves over (not an issue), but quickly realized it wasn’t accessible for my mom, who has a torn hip labrum and uses a cane. The sand was unstable for her to walk on safely, so we returned within about five minutes and asked to sit indoors instead. Reception, despite knowing about her injury & that we’d likely be back, had already given away our reserved low table. We were told we could wait 40–50 minutes (even though the restaurant was dead, all lower tables were occupied) or sit at a high top. Their attitude felt careless & dismissive, a genuine “we don’t care, not our problem” energy from the front desk.

To make matters worse, we had noted “celebrating” on our reservation (we’d just received great news that we could finally rebuild our home after losing it in the hurricane). Reception claimed selecting “celebrating” voided seating preference, which made no sense. The reservation system allows both, and this felt like a poor excuse.

Once seated, we realized the advertised food & drinks online were only available at the beachside bar. The indoor menu was more expensive and heavier (we didn't want to eat a steak and mashed potatoes when it was 100 degrees and 75+% humidity out), more like a limited steakhouse, and lacked many lighter options we saw online. They couldn’t make most cocktails, only offered rail drinks, canned beer, & asked us to stick to menu choices.

We decided to split a burger, which came out undercooked & falling apart. Typically we'd make due but it was cold to the touch and just inedible and we sent it back. This is not the biggest deal but when they returned, they didn’t replate—just reused the same cold meat, LTO & fries were then soggy from sitting in pickle juice with a returned attitude like we were inconveniencing them. Just adds to an already disappointing experience.

Our server however was lovely & the only bright spot, but the food was subpar, the value wasn’t there, and the receptionist (shorter build, medium skin tone with long blackish brownish hair) was rude & completely unaccommodating and for me witnessing that towards my mom was upsetting. The whole experience left us feeling unwelcome & like we didn’t matter.

If the beachside is truly different from the main restaurant, that may be worth returning to try again but the inside is NOT worth your time (plenty of other just as nice restaurants within...

From the moment we walked into Coconut Charlie’s at the DoubleTree Hotel in North Redington Beach, we knew we were in for something special. We arrived as a party of six, about 1 hour and 15 minutes before closing, fully expecting the usual “late guest” vibes. Instead, we were greeted by Cheryl at the host stand, who welcomed us with a warm smile and zero hesitation. She made us feel like we were right on time, and that set the tone for the night. Now, let’s talk about Mikey — our server and the true star of the evening. Mikey went above and beyond in every possible way. From the moment he introduced himself, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He never made us feel rushed (despite the late hour), and instead, he took the time to walk us through the menu, answer every question with genuine enthusiasm, and offer great recommendations. His professionalism was matched only by his authentic personality — funny, kind, and sharp. You could tell he really cared about making sure we had a great experience. He checked on us regularly without hovering, ensured every special request was handled perfectly, and treated us like VIPs from start to finish. The kind of service Mikey provided is rare — the kind that turns a good meal into a memorable experience. If I could rate Mikey 10 stars, I absolutely would. The food? Delicious! Every dish we ordered came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But as great as the food was, it was Mikey's outstanding service that made this visit truly exceptional. To the management at Coconut Charlie’s: Mikey is a gem. Recognize him, reward him, and do everything you can to keep him — he’s the reason we’ll be back. Highly recommend this spot, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Mikey as your server. Thank you to the entire team for making our evening so enjoyable! Update to this review. We have visited again 3 more times and the service from Mikey was...
