I am writing this review primarily to warn people that we found foreign objects throughout our meal and two separate entirely different dishes. We began choking. The meal was inedible, but we started off thinking that maybe this was from an herb being used or maybe the skin off of a vegetable as it was getting stuck in our teeth, and in our mouths and in our throats. We were able to take these pieces and look at them closely to better understand what these things were or what it was from. I just want to say that I am a lover and long time connoisseur of Indian food. I grew up in Queens, New York for 30 years and I’ve spent the last 10 years looking for good Indian food in the state of Florida. I have found some great Indian food here, but it is not this place. I continued to pick through the food and found these hard fibers throughout the meals and trying to break them with your fingernails, it wasn’t always possible and definitely not on the first try. These are very strong fibers not organic material. It honestly feels like it could be an old rice bag that has began to disintegrate because immediately their rice felt old and stale or maybe just cooked improperly and left to sit there? As I was cleaning up I found a fiber that was not in the food and it seems like a white fiber out rice bag. In either event, there’s a huge problem in their kitchen and everyone needs to know about it because they need to fix it. This is an absolute choking hazard and who knows what because this is foreign objects, inorganic material, that we were eating. Specifically, we got the chicken tikka, which is an extraordinarily popular dish so I can’t imagine how many people were actually affected by this and the chana masala. I ordered through DoorDash and when I arrived to the restaurant an hour before they were due to close, the doors were locked. I had to really knock loudly for the man inside to hear me. I’m not too sure what the problem is there, but that was no bother. I would recommend not going here. I am staying at a resort on the beach and was just looking for some great Indian food, close by, for my birthday. I was super excited to find this place, but I couldn’t be more disappointed in how it ended waking up the following morning and still feeling like something is...
Read moreThe Indian Bistro is our new favorite Indian food restaurant! Located in a strip mall just off of Gulf Boulevard in St. Pete, this small scale place is serving up BIG flavors! We were fortunate enough to have the sweetest Irish server and were also blessed to meet the 25 year old chef. We were astonished that someone so young was creating dishes with that much flavor and authenticity. Meeting this young passionate chef was the perfect way to end our wonderful meal!
Our order: My husband ordered the Chicken Tika Masala and I ordered the Butter Paneer Masala - both served with a huge family style bowl of rice. We also ordered the Papadums with chutney as an appetizer and the garlic naan.. a MUST with every meal! The dishes were rich with complex and layered flavors that hit every flavor mark. The naan with butter, garlic and parsley was the best we’ve ever had! The Papadums were cooked in the tandoori oven and were a delicious texture, but different from the traditionally fried Papadums. The portions were large enough to make 2 meals for both of us, so we thoroughly enjoyed our leftovers the next day!
We absolutely recommend this restaurant and we both left astonished that we just ate the best Indian meals of our lives. We will 10000% be back soon as the customer service was as fabulous as our food. Wear light clothing as they don’t use the air conditioner and get that Garlic Naan so you can...
Read moreHad a wonderful first meal at Indian Bistro near St Pete Beach in Dolphin Village Plaza.
Sandy is the owner/chef and he make’s DELICIOUS food! The Palak Paneer (Cottage Cheese in Spinach Gravy) is likely my favorite Indian dish and Sandy’s version is excellent. We also had Lamb Curry that was delicious. Flavorful spicing and the Lamb was wonderfully moist! The Yellow Lentil Dal was a very close runner-up to both of the previous dishes…but good enough that I dipped back in for ‘seconds’ on it as well.
The only disappointment was we ordered Chicken Tikka and it was served ‘dry’. It was served similar to ‘Fajita’ style, either the Tandoori chicken and onions & peppers. Flavorful but not what we were expecting.
Naan was outstanding - paper thin and just the right balance of crispy/soft and savory. The rice was good.
Tiffany was our server and did a very nice job. She was the only one working a busy front room and juggled it all nicely.
Marked down one star as the interior is VERY bare bones and the air conditioner was either not working or over matched for FLA Summer. Good Indian food always makes my forehead a bit ‘moist’ and the lack of cool air really exacerbated the need to ‘dab my brow’ with a napkin. Hope the A/C is fixed before our next visit.
Come for the food - not the ambiance…& you will be happy you did. Can’t wait for our next order from...
