I see that the majority of the reviews or comments pertain to "the vibe", the bar/drinks, the jukebox and the grilled cheese sandwiches. After reviewing All Souls website, we decided that when we made our trip to Salem, this would be a MUST TRY place. Sadly, "in our opinions" the hot dogs were some of the WORST hotdogs that we have ever eaten! We tried the Rhode Island dog, the Chili Cheese dog, and the Seattle dog. The first thing to comment on is the (again, our opinion) nasty tasting wiener itself. I don't even really know how to accurately describe the taste. It is definitely not an all beef wiener. It tastes like a low grade type pork with a sour tasting finish. Both the smell and taste were off putting! The chili that was put on the chili dog was a very watered down tomato soup like consistency with some beans and ground beef mixed in. It had a sweet flavor and not the savory flavor that hotdog chili should have. The Rhode Island hotdog was a bit better but only because of the ground beef topping on top of the disappointing flavored wiener. The Seattle dog had cold globs of cream cheese just placed on top with little to no bagel seasoning on it. The most positive comment that I can make about the hotdogs were the bagged chips (Deep River brand) and pickle spear that comes with each dog. Sadly, the bags of chips were thrown on top of the hotdogs and closed down on TOP of the hotdog toppings, so the bags were coated with food when we took them out of the boxes. They should have kept the bags of chips outside of the individual boxes and just placed in to the bags separately. We also got an order of their pierogi's that were flavorless and bland! They were not even warm. The pretzel bites were cold and hard. To be fair, we ordered our order to go and we had to wait a few extra minutes for them to finish preparing it. We immediately drove home with the order (five minutes) to find everything was "barely warm". I feel that reviews serve no value if everyone doesn't give their honest opinion or experience. I would HIGHLY recommend skipping All Souls hotdogs, pierogi, and pretzel bites, based on our experience. Pretty pricey for a substandard...
Read moreMy partner & I went here last night for a cocktail & grilled cheese as the menu looked very good online. There were no tables or bar seats available when we walked in but the man checking ID’s said wait over in the corner and something will open up. We ordered drinks and stood for a short while enjoying our cocktails. We decided to just grab a grilled cheese to go. After ordering the grilled cheese through the bartender, we walked over to the jukebox to put on some songs. After selecting songs, we stood by the jukebox having our cocktails waiting for the food. The jukebox is not far from the kitchen door, we were standing across from it. A waitress came whipping past us, did not say excuse me, then she came storming past again and yelled “OH MY GOD”, I thought are we in her way?? Then she stormed past a 3rd time and glared in my face, turned at me as she was walking past and actually looked me in the eyes with the angriest look possible. I thought oh we must be in her way but still, how about excuse me?? After reading the bad reviews on here I see I’m not the only one that’s experienced the bad attitudes at this place. I also see that the owner mainly replies to bad reviews with aggression, denial, and attitude. I wonder if I was so in the way, what is it like when the bar is packed wall to wall with not even standing room, as it was the 2 other times we tried to get in here. The common theme among the low reviews of this establishment speaks volumes. The energy management puts into arguing with Google reviewers should be put into ensuring the staff is at least friendly and has simple manners. And lastly, I won’t be writing home about the grilled cheese. To echo another review, go next door to Bit Bar. Amazing staff and...
Read moreMy family and I went to all souls lounge two weeks ago on a trip, I was super excited to try the kimchi hotdog because my sister had it before and said it was good. We got takeout and I tipped well, when we walked outside I noticed they had outdoor seating and we decided to eat there, I just didn’t want to sit inside because I was getting over being sick, I figured every single person that bought food tipped, so it’s not like we aren’t “paying customers” or trying to get out of tipping the staff and just taking up a table, there was literally nobody outside sitting down & maybe 2 people indoors (I’d totally understand if it were busy but it was not. My party of 4 that ordered all paid separately and ALL tipped.) A lady came outside (black long hair) and said “hey usually with takeout orders we don’t let people eat here but you do what you need to do” (she was friendly) I figured okay noted I won’t do this again but I have 2 bites of my hotdog left so I’m going to finish this up, take my trash and leave. I said thank you and apologized because I didn’t know. 5 seconds later the bartender with the buzz cut came outside and was SUPER rude telling us to leave, can’t sit out here it’s for “customers only”. I don’t know her name but she was extremely nasty. Mind you I WAS a customer, I paid my bill and I tipped on top of my bill. I wasn’t bringing food over from another establishment to eat it there. I was eating the food I bought THERE. I made a mental note to leave a review when I got home because I’ve never had this bad of an experience at a food establishment. Disrespectful,...
