Management really needs to keep a close eye on their restaurant. Arrived at 4:00 to a mostly empty establishment, only a few patrons at the bar, a few in the booths, and a 6 top in one of the backrooms. We waited for 10 minutes to get our drink and app orders in, getting my lime Rickey took another 15, and my girlfriends Sprite took almost 35 minutes to get. By almost 30 minutes we didnt even have our appetizer. The buffalo chicken rangoons we got at 45 minutes since walking in were small and sad. The whole time the 6 top in the back was getting their food no problem. When we finally got our food it was apparent it had been sitting, already finished, for a while. My tacos were disappointing, lacking cheese, and seasoning, they were also cold. My girlfriends chicken alfredo was congealed and barely luke warm. I sent the tacos back, and in fear of it taking another 50 minutes opted to bypass the kitchen remaking my food. The best part of the meal was the French fries and leaving. The whole time we were there we saw the shift manager and who we assume was the chef come out to the dining room and look around but never approach a table and talk to any guests. An hour and a half later after sitting with no food on our table for half an hour we had to ask for our check as our server walked by without acknowledging is for the 15th time. Attached pic is of the tacos I got, ice cold, and hard "soft shell". All lettuce, no chz, and barely any meat.

This was our second time coming here, and I can’t believe I didn’t leave a review the first time. My girlfriend and I started coming to Salem last year, and Village Tavern has been one of the places we will go to every year now. The atmosphere is great, it really gives tavern/pub feel. When we arrived this time we were greeted by the host who promptly seated us. The host was friendly and definitely committed to the highest level of service. Once we were seated our server Brooke, took our drink orders. Brooke was very attentive, asked about any food allergies, and was very sociable. The food was incredible just as it was a year ago. We ordered the table bread appetizer and the loaded potato skins. Both of the appetizers were incredible, so much so I wish I could get the recipe for the tomato spread that came with the bread. While the appetizers were fantastic, I forgot to mention the mixed drinks. We had the espresso martini which Brooke drew a perfect chocolate heart on top, and I had the rye old fashioned. We both got lobster rolls, I had Maine, and she had Connecticut. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The lobster roll had so much flavor and the roll was toasted perfectly. The house made chips are also incredible. Currently this place is 2-0 in my book, and we are likely to return before leaving Salem. Thank you to everyone who made our experience amazing!! Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the apps!

Title: "A Stellar Dining Experience at Village Tavern with Outstanding Service"

Review:

Last night, my dining experience at Village Tavern transcended my expectations, thanks to our server, Kristin F., and the remarkable cuisine. Here are six standout aspects of our visit:

Exceptional Service by Kristin F.: From the moment we were seated, Kristin F. made us feel welcomed and valued. Her recommendations for drinks, appetizers, and entrees were spot-on. Her attentive service and vibrant energy greatly enhanced our dining experience.

Expert Drink Recommendations: Kristin's knowledge of the drink menu was impressive. Each recommendation she made was a delightful surprise, elevating our overall dining pleasure.

Mouth-Watering Appetizers: The appetizers set a high standard for the rest of the meal. Each one was a burst of flavor, perfectly prepared and presented.

Delicious and Flavorful Tacos: The tacos deserve a special mention. They were not just good; they were a flavor-packed journey, leaving us savoring every bite.

The Prime Rib - A Culinary Delight: My choice of the prime rib was a highlight. Cooked to perfection, it was tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The accompaniments were equally delicious, making it a memorable dish.

Exceptional Value for High-Quality Cuisine: The 20 oz prime rib at $39.00 was not only scrumptious but also represented great value for money. It's rare to find such quality at this price point.

In conclusion, Village Tavern isn't just about great food; it's about an experience that leaves you wanting to return. Thanks to Kristin F. and the culinary team for an unforgettable evening....

Easily one of the worst pubs I've ever been to. Is it a pub? There's a lot going on in there but none of it seems well established.

Walked in, nobody at the door, self sat at a high top next to the bar never had service, which was odd since there was a ton of staff on. Went to the bar to order drinks and ask for a menu, the drinks opened a tab then got told the kitchen closed early. Google says it's open until 11, it was 8:30pm. We were there for the GF food options so oh well I'll cash out... $10 card min, that's understandable but I wouldn't have ordered the $5 beer if I had known the kitchen was closed. Ok I hit the ATM and take the service fee hit, chug the beer and go to cash out. The bartender, who gave the impression this happens often but still wanted to seem annoyed, puts it on the card anyway and tells me to order more next time... As if I didn't try.

Anyway someone turned on some cheap disco lights and turned up their Now That's What I Call Dance Music for White People CD. Love the club vibe of a disco in an Applebee's, so cool.

Most of clientele, wearing their backwards hat and hoodie combos, made me think I had accidentally walked into a daterape convention. Which tracks since half of the restaurant was filled with security. A customer to securety staff ratio of 1 to 1 is never a good sign.

Went to a better spot for the evening and passed Village on our way home, there was two ambulance and a cop car parked out front and the bar was empty. Seemed right.

Beer list was...

This review is based on the Drag Brunch Village Tavern hosted on Sunday. The event said doors open at 11, and the show is to start at noon. We arrived a couple of minutes early, and a line was already starting. At 11, a staff member started escorting folks one party at a time, but then these people were asked to come back out as the venue was not ready yet. It was disorganized and frustrating as we were then told to step aside and let other customers in if we were here for the event. After ten minutes, we were guided to the room and checked in. However, there weren't clear instructions on where to sit, and some tables had "reserved" labels, making it even more confusing. Once we figured out where we could sit, things went much smoother.

Village Tavern does not serve brunch, but they curated small but varied options for the event. Hubs and I split the chicken, waffles, and breakfast pizza. There was more confusion when it came to delivering the food. However, once it arrived, it blew our expectations. The chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful inside the crispy shell. The waffles were delish, too, and the fig maple syrup with mascarpone bechamel was spot on. The breakfast pizza was just as good, with a nice chewy crust, flavorful toppings, and seasoned well.

Jessica, our server, was on top of everything and definitely added to the fun.

It's a shame we haven't come to Village Tavern before. We can't wait to try it for lunch or...
