I found W Wallace while walking through town, the place looked so comfortable and inviting. My experience on my first visit is mixed, and i'm willing to fix the review rating upon another try, with different staff present. I Took my wife there last night for our wedding anniversary. Both front staff (Bartender, Greeter) were new (1 month in) from what they told me as I was trying to make small talk with them. My small talk was met by the Bartender with unenjoyable responses, an annoyed tone, and generally a non-welcoming demeaner. Mavic is his name? Cant exactly remember, it was an uncommon name though. So he made me wonder if by sitting at the bar and asking questions about what kind of meat 'petit' is that I had done something wrong to him. Apparently I was dumb for asking. I tried to recover from a bumpy start with him, but there was no willingness on his behalf to partake. The young lady working was delightful, bubbly, and willing to chat with customers, she even kept checking on us and helping us with refills when her counterpart was elsewhere doing who knows what. She luckily saved the night for us, for someone showed kindness and happiness while we were there. I could tell by her conversations with him on who's gonna take a table, that she had some underlying tension as well.
Now the food was AMAZING. Great job to the chefs for sure. I had the Beef Strogy and my Wife had the Tenederloin, and both dishes were done perfect. Well done to the guys in the kitchen!
I tipped the young lady directly, and asked her to share with the cooks what's fair to her. On my card slip I tipped zero to the bartender. He seriously put a damper on the visit and his attitude filled the air. Whether he thought me unenjoyable or not at a fundamental level, I can get along with anyone, unless they are completely exasperated like...
Read moreWent in this last Friday for dinner and waited 2 hours for my food. We had a group a 7. I love this place drinks are always on point and the atmosphere is great. I have been a waitress so I understand the difficulties when understaffed. But as a former waitress the waitress should inform customers hey its a busy night and we are understaffed so it could be about ( however long it could possibly take) to get your food, this way customers can decide if they choose to stay or go. One of our party had to go to the bar to order for half of our group. I waited 30 more minutes before heading to the bar to ask if someone can go take our order which the waitress rolled her eyes at me, I did not see but my group did. Said waitress proceeds to finally get to our table and doesn't say anything just looks at us with her pen and pad waiting for our order. Very rude btw. I ordered 2 drinks while there ,1 of them I didn't even get. To top it off a pre calculated gratuity was added to our bill. All I can say is I hope that gratuity went to the bartender and the cook because waitress gets a...
Read moreStopped here for lunch and decided to try a few things. First up was that charcuterie plate, a nice selection of cheese and a fairly boring selection of meats. Next was the hot chicken, which was not hot chicken. Amazingly bland and almost under cooked inside while slightly over cooked outside, the moderate application of habanero hot sauce and aoli at least made them edible. The street tacos had decent flavor however they were so overly wet and the tortilla overcooked that they mostly spilled out on to the bowl. Finally there was the truffle fries: hard, dried out and overly salted. Though the garlic aoli was tasty they would have paired better with the sloppy wet pulled pork. Service was good at least, no complaints as they seemed capable enough to service multiple tables adequately while also dealing with staff scheduling. For this place I am going with poor quality and poor value as well, the menu seemed inspired but the execution was beyond lacking. For the price I would expect far better flavor and...
