A Symphony of Smoke: A Culinary Journey at Smoke Pit Barbecue In the heart of Salisbury, North Carolina, amidst whispers of barbecue bliss, lies a culinary haven known as Smoke Pit Barbecue. Guided by the fervent recommendations of local friends, we embarked on a flavorful expedition, eager to savor the essence of true Southern barbecue. As we crossed the threshold of this gastronomic sanctuary, I was met with a surprising dichotomy. The modernist allure of Smoke Pit, with its sleek interior and contemporary accents, danced in harmony with the rustic charm expected of a barbecue sanctuary. Adorned with the vibrant creations of local artists, the walls whispered tales of community and culture, setting the stage for an unforgettable feast. Seated promptly by the effervescent Daisy, our journey began. With each glance at the menu, anticipation swelled within me, fueled by the promises of succulent brisket and smoky delights. Despite a slight misstep in communication, where my yearning for onion rings was lost in translation, the culinary voyage pressed on. In the company of cherished friends, we embarked on a symphony of flavors, each dish a crescendo of taste and texture. My chosen muse, the Brisket sandwich on a brioche canvas, beckoned with tender whispers of smoke-kissed perfection. Though marred by a lingering vein of fat, the brisket exuded a melody of flavor that danced upon the palate, a testament to the artistry of Smoke Pit's craft. Beside me, my wife reveled in the indulgence of a brisket-loaded baked potato, its hearty embrace a testament to the decadence of Southern comfort. As our friends delved into the BBQ mixer platter, a cornucopia of barbecue delights, laughter mingled with the heady aroma of smoked meats, weaving memories as intricate as the flavors before us. Amidst the clinking of glasses and the laughter of companionship, Smoke Pit Barbecue transcended the realm of mere dining, becoming a tapestry of shared moments and cherished memories. For in the alchemy of good food and great company, bonds are forged and stories are woven, each meal a chapter in the epic saga of friendship. Though Smoke Pit Barbecue may have faltered in the pursuit of ambiance, its soulful offerings and warm hospitality earned it a place in our hearts. With a variety of sauces adorning our table like treasures waiting to be discovered, each bite was a revelation, a testament to the culinary prowess that resides within these hallowed walls. In the tapestry of life, where flavors intertwine and memories are etched upon the palate, Smoke Pit Barbecue stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, beckoning travelers and locals alike to partake in its savory symphony. For in the embrace of good food and good friends, true magic is found, a sentiment that lingers long after the last bite is savored. EDIT***THIS IS MY THIRD REVIEW -TAKOUT*** I just don't know what to say about the baby back ribs. Their TEXTURE and taste are like beef jerky. I've never had the ribs before, but I can tell you I won't be ordering them again - especially for $20. Right now they're sitting in my crockpot with some broth and BBQ sauce, hopefully to soften up. Good lord have mercy I hope I can salvage these. No. I'm not being dramatic. Biting into one of these ribs is like biting into hard beef jerky! We also ordered the "PBT Sliders" and the turkey was the star of the show for the entire meal. OMG was it ever hot and juicy! A must try. The brisket slider was good, but the pulled pork was dry. I tried one of the Texas Twinkies (brisket, cream cheese, stuffed into jalapeno pepper and wrapped with candied bacon and then smoked). Nothing to write home about. Save yourself the $3.75 (EACH!)!!! Wish me luck with the ribs. I don't know how many more chances I can give this place, especially as a local. They have a wide variety of items but their selections are generally overcooked and overpriced. ***THIS IS MY SECOND REVIEW NOW THAT THEY'VE MOVED*** It's loud in here and heaven help you all if there is a screaming child. The acoustics are not set to handle those decibel levels! Bring earplugs for yourself if there ARE the screeching children (there were TWO tag-teaming it ---what's wrong with their parents??? Just saying, "Sssshhh" won't cut this mess of hollarin!!) Even without screeching children, it's loud in the place - makes it hard to talk. We were served by the new guy, first day on the job, totally didn't have his stuff together "new guy".... but he WAS TRYING! All our food came out as ordered, hot and delish. Kept our glasses full and checked in on us. We ordered the bbq chicken sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and several tacos. All were great and the sides of mac n cheese were hot, creamy and cheesy! Good food. We'll be back! ***THIS IS MY FIRST REVIEW BEFORE THEY MOVED TO FAITH ROAD*** Ordered the Tres Amigos - got a lot of pulled pork, (only) two ribs and two pieces of brisket ($22) - all were tasty. Ordered a side of chicken wings (they were dry and a little tough- 4 wings for $4.75). Also ordered the sides plate - BBQ beans, Mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole - all delish ($8.75). Their banana pudding wasn't that good - the bananas were brown/slimy and the pudding was thin.

Update: Ate here for third time and as usual the food was spectacular. I went with Burnt Ends sandwich on Texas Toast. OUTSTANDING! I was undecided on my side and my servervsaid get the hash brown casserole. This ain't the normal bland version. And I need to mention this. THIS PLACE DOES NOT SKIMP ON PORTIONS. At other places you get a thimble or a tiny ramekin for a side. Not here! Also got a Texas Twinkie. All I need to say is get this. The only complaint I can say is the stools at the bar are too high and not very comfortable. This place even does their to go orders perfect. 3 veggie plate was put in individual containers then put in a half sheet pan with lid and then put a plastic bag around it which was tied up! So I ate here for the first time back during the middle of the pandemic at the old location with a buddy. We got the frychos, assorted meats and sides and we ate standing in a city park eating from the back of our cars. It was fantastic but I thought it might be from being locked down for months and was just the first normal meal in months. So I met some buddies at the new location which by the way is a fantastic remodel. If you were ever in the old Winks (loved their homemade oatmeal creme cookies) you will be amazed what they have done. You definitely won't recognize it My buddy ordered fried pickles (not my fave) but the serving was massive and they were hot and tasty. I ordered the Stockyard sandwich (burnt ends, pork and a split sausage link) on Texas Toast. It ain't cheap but Ashley (our fine server in all respects) warned me it was massive. Comes with two sides. I went Deviled Egg potato salad and Texas pintos. I think I may have gotten the baked beans but they were both delicious. My two buddies raved about their food. Small beer list featuring some local New Sarum brews and a few domestics. They were out of the one cider on the menu. If I lived closer this place would be in the regular rotation at the top of said rotation.

First of all I have been a customer for may years now when the Smoke Pit was on Innes st in downtown and was always the Best and I first ate at the Smoke Pit in Concord in 2016 We come from Kernersville to eat at the Smoke Pit about every 2 months and always have been satisfied with service ,food and portions BUT not this time ….. 1- we came in and the girl went to seat us and the floor and table was wet because the A/C leaked from vent at the ceiling 2- they set another couple at the next table and also told then the vent leaked 3- the waitress came to get the next table order before us that we sat there at least 5 minutes before they came in to seat so she stops by our table and ask for our drink order we order and tell her we are ready to food order also and she told us that she needed to get the other tables drink and ours at the same time and she would be back although she took their order on the hand held before she even stopped by our table 4- when the food came the sides was on the the wrong tray we had to change them ourselves which isn’t too much of a problem because they do put them in individual trays 5- The biggest complaint that I have was the Food itself I always get burnt ends and the meat was an 8 out of 10 when most of the time they are a 10 The sweet potato casserole was runny and too juicy different than usual the slaw was great pork bbq was good and now we get to the Cornbread The Cornbread is most of all that we drive so far for and I must say that they have changed the cornbread instead of large rectangle sweet piece that we always get and extra to take home They now have thin oily (from the honey glaze ) too sweet and when you pick it up it drips We ask if we could get a piece without the glaze and the waitress first said that’s the way it comes,so I stopped a different waitress and she said she would talk with the cook, so our waitress comes back and says she would have to talk to the manager to see if they can give us a piece without the glaze NOW I’m paying $70 with $8 tip for 2 people we drive an hour to eat to get subpar food and not so good service The waitress said she’s been working there since April and I think the food is the only reason that she gets tips because service isn’t her best quality Don’t remember her name and not sure she told us We will come back in the future if and when we go to Salisbury but if we have another experience like this one then never again We stopped by Lexington on the way and told my friend that that’s where we was going for dinner and he told me 30 minutes before we got there that he didn’t understand the hype that the locals rave about The Smoke Pit because it’s not cheap and he only ate there one time and wasn’t anything special I was surprised of his comment but if his experience was anything like our experience was then I do understand Don’t know if it’s a new cook or new manager but what ever it is it needs to be fix soon And if you do fix the problem let me know because I always “ liked the Smoke Pit” But I also know a lot of people from Davidson county and Rowan county that eat there and I will share my experience...
